Thank goodness you made this video We're about to have large 8 x 40 wood look tiles installed in a large portion of our new home.. And my husband was trying to convince me to go with a certain pattern. But THIS IS WHAT I wanted. Thank you thank you. Explains it perfectly.

Great video. Well explained overall, and the rules around random pattern totally makes sense. My tip would be to dry lay the pattern and adjust to the 'best look' following the rules. Especially the tile width rule (No.3). Then go ahead and start tiling.

I like the OKC shirt I'm from okc myself😁I took your advice on the 6 x 40 wood look tile and it turned out great! Maybe a good video would be the glitter grout all over tik tok! I'm about to use some on my bathroom floor. Wish me luck 😁

Good explanation. Do you have a video where you demonstrate actually measuring and laying tile in a random pattern?

For an example, if you have four six inch wide boards laid out and the two inside board joints are offset but the two outside board joints match up straight across, is it still a H joint even though there is no joints between the matching two outside joints?

Great info. Definitely helped. I am really needing to know how to start the pattern. Do I start in the middle of the floor etc?

Its depends, if its a bedroom i would start full piece by the wall next to the door or centered with the door as long as you dont have any slivers on the other side. If its a living room or main entrance i would center with the walls

I really like the H-joints. I don't understand why people just copy and repeat the same over and over again. The same with the laminate direction towards light source - there are so many (design) rules or issues which makes a lot of the time to not be possible to follow that "recommendation". The real rules are spacing that needs to be left, the prep, etc, while design/layout/pattern is a question of taste.

It would be great if you could give hints on what to check for prior to the installation of the tile.

Thanks. First time laying tile. I appreciate the 3 no’s. My question is where do I start on the concrete?

I'm not a professional tile setter, I'm plumber by trade. But when I measured one side of my living room, I was 1" out of square. So being 20' wide, I added ¼" every 5' or so on the long side and popped chalk lines. I ended up with a square cut against the wall and not a wierd wedge shape.

I have a multi width 7,5,3 vinyl laminate im installing and i understand not to use the not to use the H pattern or staircase pattern. My problem is i have different shades of color in my copperhill color flooring im confused about how to make that look as natural as possible. I really could use your expertise in resolving this problem.

Don’t overthink the placement, just grab from different boxes, install and every few rows stand up and look at your floor to make sure you dont have too much of one color in one area

What if the manufacturer recommends a 33% offset ? That creates a staircase effect
