How to train for basketball during the season | In season training guide. Just because your basketball season started doesn't mean your training stops, we simply just adjust the way we train. A few things to consider when approaching in-season is as follows:
Our training will shift primarily from improvement to performance, our main goal with our workouts is to perform well in games. Because of that our workouts will include more block practice and drills to build confidence. Now, this isn't a one size fits all, depending on your age you still might be going for improvement or if you play at a high level we are strictly worried about performance.
The next thing is our training is going to be much more specific to our roles and what we are doing in games. Again, this all depends, but we want to spend the majority of the time doing exactly what we see in games.
Lastly we want to make sure we are getting what we aren't getting what we don't get enough of in practice. If you get lots of decision making work, get lots of volume, and vice versa.
The main focus of training in season is our ability to manage volume, take care of your body while still get the highest leverage work possible.
