Whether you're starting plants from seed or buying a pack of starters from your local nursery, transplanting out into the garden can be a big change for crops.
We have a tomato here, and we're actually going to bury a good portion of the stalk. That's because the stalk will send out roots, so you can move the soil line up on it. Doing this with most other plants will kill them because the stalks aren't equipped to be in the soil.
Note that we're planting into MOIST soil, and we'll water it in as well.
