Thanks for showing the steps. One question: after it's adapted to the new medium, do you repot it in regular potting soil?
@zasr7171
2 жыл бұрын
That was very informative 👍 thank you and I wouldn't have thought of the 2nd method but it just makes sense to slowly make the cutting adapt . Can I ask you, once you have added enough soil to the water (2nd method), how long should the cutting remain there before transferring to its pot ?
@Plantalogy
2 жыл бұрын
It can take 10-15 days to develop enough roots to grow in big pots. It depends on the variety. That's why I like to use transparent pots. It allows getting a better idea about root growth.

I do have a question: My pothos have been growing in water for many months, and have long roots. Would it be simpler to just propagate cuttings from them and start with roots that are 2-3 inches like you mentioned?

@@nehabajpai5270 hello🙂 Maybe your cutting has rotten that's why it's feeling smelly. In the case of the second method, you do not need to keep the soil soggy after filling up the pot with potting mix. Mam, when is the right time to pot it in pure soil and can this method work for succulents? If yes mam, do the roots have to dry for succulents first and then transfered to gritty mix?
@Plantalogy

You can directly transplant water-rooted succulents into the soil. Just avoid overwatering the soil. 🌱🌷❄️

Can I use regular potting soil for the second method? Or do I need sand/coco mix?
@Plantalogy

Hello🙂 You better use sand or cocopeat. Though you can use potting soil. But that should be excessively well-draining soil which will allow the roots to breath 🙂🙂

When you do the no. 2 approach, can i use potting mix with perlite? Also, when can you transfer that to a pot with drainage?
@Plantalogy

Yes, you can use it with perlite. And I generally transplant when I see the roots are well developed. 😊😊😊🍃🍃

The plant i propagated has a lot of roots already coz it’s been like 3 months. Since it’s already fall here i wanna transplant so it wont get use to water too much coz it might not survive in soil. I’m planning to mix perlite to normal potting mix. Will that be ok? Thank you so much for you vid btw, it’s really informative :)

Yes, that will be better if you add perlite. 🙂 and also thank you for being part of my channel..❤️❤️
