Ithaki was my first holiday in Greece. We arrived on Greek Easter Sunday and a small fishing boat took us from Kefalonia to the island. What a magical and perfect place that will remain in my happy memories forever.

The stone walls built with those massive stones, where they say the Mycenaean Palace of Odysseus is located are called cyclopean walls. They were built in that style during the Mycenaean era, found in many parts of Greece and correspond perfectly with the time Odysseus would've lived in his palace.

Oh dear dear! Gabriel, I was studying the "School of Homer" of Ithaka 11 years ago, when I was still an employee (now retired) and through Google Earth with the included photos of the old Panoramio Google pictures facility on the spots, I had sufficient view and knowledge on the archaeological site and subject. Probably is the Palace of Odysseas. But this is the first time I see a video of thiw specific place and for that I THANK YOU Gabriel so much!!! You are magnificent my friend. Thank you 1000 times for this great offer to me. Greatings and respect to U from Trikala, GR.

Hi Gabe, I am very impressed from your last greek islands episods. Has I saw by your shadow is that you are using a small extreme camera that you are holding in your hand with no gimble but the footage is very stable. I am also very impressed that you are able to direct the lense to shoot you right in the middle of the frame. I suppose it is all by a massive training. The videods I supposevis being taken in 4k since when I am casting it to my TV, the quality is in its best. maybe regarding this episod, can you please describe which camera are you using and what setup configuration you did there? Again, the footage quality is more than excelent. Are you using a sperate audio device or that you are using the canera build in mic? Using a small and quility camers enables you to trekking light without carring a havy gear. Looking at other people vlogs it seems thst you are in the first leage with no rxcessive gear as it seems. I think that from your expirience a guide book written by you regardig field photography will be more than apprichieted. Sorry for my long comment. Very good work.

I wonder what the black, stone eagles were at the Monestary (in the floor, at the entrance) They look very much like the heraldic of the Austrian ,,doppel Adler,, (double Eagle) of the Habsburg/Austrian Empire.
@eleniasimop
3 жыл бұрын
The double eagle is a Byzantine empire symbol, the items it holds by its nails and the two heads symbolized the power the emperor had upon both church and state. Many kingdoms and rulers used it afterwards most of the times with the same meaning. After the Ottoman Turks seized the mostly Greek Byzantine empire some countries considered themselves the continue of it and used it also. (Russia for example) Austria has it as the continue of the holy Roman empire. Constantinople was the "new Rome" as the capital of the eastern Roman empire(Byzantine). The holy Roman empire in medieval central Europe considered it self the continue of Rome, so they used too the symbol the strong Byzantine empire(second Rome) had used already. It's complicated, I know!
