Hi Lydia. That is an interesting situation too. I actually usually use a L’Oreal hair color called medium ash blonde on my brows to dye them up some. Unfortunately though it does not cover grades at all so it’s really not that effective although it does like my brows. Although I didn’t think to tell my brow lady, she used a neutral blonde on me but because I had pre-lighten my brows the color took and looked black! Pretty much everything that could go wrong with me did!

@anitaclemens2609
2 жыл бұрын
OMG, is that what is going on. I have always had my brows waxed but I restarted using Retin A in late Summer and a few month later I got my brows waxed and the skin under my brows burned and blistered. A month later I thought they had healed enough and I did it again and the blistering was worse. It is now February and I have not done my brows since. I am scared to death to do it again because my lids are still a bit red and have not healed. One eye lid is so "stretched" out it is actually looks like a hooded lid. No one told me about the use of Retin A and to stop using it before a brow wax. Now my brows are overgrown and when I go in for a facial I ask her to just pluck my brows but she never does. Thank you so much for posting this video. I am not sure I will ever wax my brows again and believe you me, they really need a good waxing. I also do exfoliating acids and the first time my lids blistered was right before an anti aging facial, and there was directed hot steam on the face which only made the pain worse. This video was so darn helpful. I can't thank you enough. You would think the facial people would know better. One last point. I had threading done to my face about two years ago (before Covid) and the woman took the top layer of my cheek off. It never healed and now when I smile I have wrinkles in a place I never had before. I have been getting monthly facials and in between using masks, collagen sticks on my skin, collagen powder in my tea, sun screen and the very best of skin care products I can find and it now seems like it is getting better, finally.The women who does my facials told me that light skinned women have thinner skin than Arab women, so that procedure is not for me. Just thought I would pass that along to you. On the hair subject, what is in style right now is a sort of soft Shirley Temple banana curl. You can get that with an inch and a quarter curling iron. However, Lydia Millen an English Influencer just started using a silk rope she attaches to the top of her head and then rolls her hair around it. Secures it with 2 scrunchies and leaves it there for about a half hour while she puts her make up on. When she takes it out, her hair has gentle rolling waves. Looks pretty nice. Thanks again, and I am so sorry you had to go through that. It is just awful. Thanks for that tip on the brow tool.

Oh Beth 😪 I’m a retin A user and a hairstylist that does waxing. First, my dr told me no waxing on retin A. Second, I refuse to wax anyone on retin A because sometimes you burn. Mists salons will not take retinA users for fear of burning and scaring. You can thread it’s much safer or tweeze. I personally use the battery operated eyebrow shaver.

A lot of people don't know this but if you use retinol cream you MUST wait about 1-2 weeks to get your eyebrows waxed!! It's a 90% chance it will cause a burn just like this. I had no idea of the connection until it happened to me my 3rd time going to my regular wax lady. The only new product I had been using was retinol cream. When I finally put 2 and 2 together I did some research and talked with my brow lady (this was like 8 years ago) and there really just wasn't that much awareness back then (or even now it seems!) The new wax lady I've been going to on the island I live on asked me FIRST day if I used retinol products which impressed me because they never asked before! I get my eyebrows waxed every 6 weeks, so I take a 1-2 week break from retinol when I schedule my appointment.

Hi Anh. You were so right about the importance of getting vitamin D. If we can’t get it from sunlight we really do need to take the supplement. I have actually been using a brown growth serum called rapid brow. It has really been working well. Thanks for stopping in! I really appreciate it.

This is a timely video, Beth. I just went for my second brow waxing this morning and I have the redness between the brows, above and below the brows. It's not as bad as what happened to you, but my skin is fair and sensitive and gets red very easily. The brows look great but I will mention to her next time about the redness. I'll definitely order that ointment from Amazon.

Sorry Beth this happened to you. I have extremely sensitive skin and had this happen once after having my brows waxed at a salon. It was so bad that my skin was crusting where she had taken off the top layer of skin. It took over a week to heal . Ever since then I am really selective in who I let do any waxing. Most of the time I tweeze or shave my brows anymore. I have let my current salon occasionally do my brows and the owner also has sensitive skin so she is very careful.I agree always ask about the person’s experience with waxing and in like my case do they have experience with sensitive skin. Take care!

Oh my, it looks like it was an experience not worth repeating, sorry that happened to you. It was also a great learning tool for me as recently I did an upper lip (at home boxed) hair removal and had the same type of redness. The directions said 5 mins apparently I went 7 mins because I did not hear the timer however this is not my 1st time w said product so I could not figure out why mine was so red and it hurt. I iced thru out the evening as it lasted several hours. I did have a microdermabrasion facial 4 days prior so I am guessing perhaps that contributed to the after effect this time. I am going to be more careful in the future with this at home procedure. Thank you for sharing your tips in healing as well.

This is exactly why I stopped waxing my face, I just shave. With using tretinoin and even retinol it left no room for me to wax and even when I took several days off when I got my waxing it caused a burn. Never will I wax again, I just shave. I actually like it better than waxing.

I think I will go back to that as I really prefer my eyes to be lighter but unfortunately the hair dye does not cover my grays! That is the only problem with it but I can always use a brow pencil for that. Love you and thanks for watching.
