We can still buy washing soda in the supermarket. It's generally bought by old ladies (like me) who use it as laundry booster

@@CleaningHowTo I found some at the store and didn't make it. First thing I tried was my air fryer. I had to replace the tray as the teflon flaked from scrubbing. I just soaked it in the washing soda and it rinsed clean. I was absolutely amazed--no scrubbing at all. I eat a keto diet and cook a lot of meat in the air fryer, and this just made cleaning up 100 times easier! Thank you.

How thick a layer of baking soda do you use to ensure it becomes washing soda? I can imagine that being too thick would limit the reaction.

On one of your videos when you mixed baking and vinegar a retired chemist explained why they don't work together well. However that mix appears in many home cleaners videos. I feel that something must work or is it just the fizz that everyone likes???
@cassieoz1702

Folks assume it's working hard because of the fizz and then make excuses for having to rub hard because the mixture is 'natural'

If you think washing soda is a great degreaser, dissolve some in hot water and add it to bacon grease in a jar. Shake vigorously. Note that none of the grease dissolves.

@@CleaningHowTo I have read that an opened baking soda loses it's effectiveness in a few weeks, is this unstability true for washing soda aswell in the context of cleaning and unclogging grease? That would not be so cost effective 🤔

You can "boil" it on the stovetop too. Put the baking soda/sodium bicarbonate in a pot on med-hi heat and stir until it stops "bubbling". But I have heard that you need to bake it for an hour at 350F, stirring every 10 or 15 minutes. The baking soda must be heated to at least 200F to change into washing soda/sodium carbonate. Hope that helps
