This is such an important video! When I started do my natural hair, all my twist outs were terrible because I didn't have the right twisting technique for my hair. Most natural hair KZitemrs don't focus on this topic and I'm glad you put in the effort to make this. This will help so many people!

PhanShipperWithFro Me too. I used to wonder why all my twist outs were bad and theirs always looked great. I just gave up in the end and decided that my hair wasn't capable of that 😂. It was only two months ago (after 4 years of trying and failing at twist outs) that I did it correctly by accident and realised what I was doing wrong. I wasn't doing it the incorrect way she demonstrated. I was twisting the hair and also rolling each strand in opposite directions simultaneously 😂😂😂😂😂. It seems simple but when you're new you just don't know

Exactly! I used t watch multiple twist out videos that never actually showed how to twist. They would show the products and then go, "Now you just start the twist." Not going into detail of how to actually twist hair. My mom never twisted our hair. Just platts and braids so I never had experience twisting before. I don't even know how I got it. I was just playing around one day and figured it out. lol

the breakdown: separate two strands of hair; as you twist the strands around each other clockwise, twist each strand counterclockwise. took me years to figure out thats what people are doing when they twist. its such a subtle technique that most people dont notice. its like a looser version of a rope twist

the perfect twist out, whether it's a 2-strand or 3-strand twist out, takes time and effort to achieve AMAZING results. So glad to see a well-done twist out. I get my inspiration from videos like this and can finally say I've mastered the perfect twist out for my own 4-c, low porosity, thick hair. I make my own DIY products as well to achieve the perfect balance between nourishment and optimum hold for my hair. I've documented my own version of the perfect twist-out on my KZitem channel and am glad to see others achieve beautiful results as well!

I’m adding a comment mainly so there isn’t triple 6. But I really struggled with twists for the first 7 years of being natural. I didn’t know how to twist or braid. So I wore puffs or wash and gos only. I finally figured out flat twisting and by default learned how to twist properly. Absolutely vital to know how to either twist or braid if you’re natural.

Thanks for the tutorial. The "wrong"/"really bad" twist is also called loose twists and an actual thing. I do that style a lot. But of course, it serves a different purpose. One question I find some people asking is which side goes over first as you start to twist, is it clockwise or anticlockwise (right or left etc) if you get what I mean. Thanks again for taking out the time to do these videos. Igbo kwenu! lol
@Igbocurls
8 жыл бұрын
Hi Oge! Thank you. I know loose twists and as a matter of fact I do them too but I specifically wrote how to twist correctly for Twist-outs because loose twists don't give definition. Also, to answer your question, it depends on the person. People who are right-handed twist from right to left most times and vice versa so it doesn't quite matter as long as your twists are firm.

Just a suggestion. If you measure the pieces before you start to twist, you won't have to borrow from the longer side. That will help to prevent tangling when undoing the twists. If you plan on doing a twist out and don't want to separate, borrowing from the other side will not produce an even result.

Same here, i cut it 2 years ago. Short back and sides, shaved off one side and kept it a bit longer in front and on the top. 💔

Why is it that when I twist or braid my hair, the twist or braid sticks outward making me look like Coolio.. why??

if I pull on my hair whilst I'm twisting or plaiting, that is what happens... make sure the strands of the twists tight but do not pull on the hair whislt doing it . it'd that makes sense

You most likely need more moisture water or cream or conditioner when you twist. Your hair is dry.

Twist in the direction you want the hair to fall, and use some kind of product, twist when the hair is wet.
