I use one of two hacks to keep track of laptop screws, and other parts. For memory and drive upgrades to my new ASUS X513E I'm going use thin coloured painter tape to tape down the case screws next to it's hole right on the caseback. For internals I use a big cut square of thin cardboard, and draw a rough map of the laptop motherboard with a sharpie. I punch through screws into the map, and set small parts on my map to remind me where they go until I'm familiar with unit.

Hi Dale, This a great video! The last time I did upgrades to laptops and standalone PC's, I was mostly dealing with 2.5 in. drives etc, SSD's weren't really common so it's helpful that you pointed at stuff and said what it was! One thing though, I got nervous seeing you wave the sticks around like it was nothing haha, do you have an anti-static wristband or cable off-camera? Have you got any videos or experience with smaller Vivobooks like the M413D? It's a good deal shorter than this 15 model but I can't imagine the internals being much different. SSD is only 128gig on this, is there an upper limit you've seen on SSD's of this form factor in terms of storage? is TB size common and affordable? It might be a good topic for a video, as I've seen a lot of people buying smaller notebook style laptops. Cheers from Ireland

Hi. Thank you for the video. I’ve got a question if you don’t mind. I’ve got this model but mine only has the 256 gb pcieSsd. It’s got the empty slot for hdd/ssd. I’m confused about something though. If I wish to add an ssd, obviously I’d have to get a sata cable since mine doesn’t have it included. The bracket tho, would I need to get a bracket? And if I do, I’m just confused by the other KZitem videos that I watch. Others put a flimsy bracket on their ssd, but then don’t have any additional screws to keep the bracket in place with the laptop. Is it bc the space is already so tight that for an ssd, additional screws to keep the bracket in line with the base of the laptop is unnecessary-bc there’s already so little wiggle room?
@CadillacComputerCenter
3 жыл бұрын
Hi. You really need a hdd caddy to do that right. Like the model I use in the video, the space is there, but the laptop did not come with the cable or caddy. Finding those caddy's is hard. And the cable. Different motherboards use different cables. If you do get the right cable, yeh you could fudge the drive in the space with a makeshift caddy. I've seen people do that. Hope this helps. Dale

@@CadillacComputerCenter Thanks Dale! Any idea about the difference in running and voltage for the RAM that may affect whether it runs smoothly in dual channel? Cheers, Lester

Hey mate, how is it, nice video and thanks! Can you throw me a hand with a doubt? I have an Asus x505ba motherboard and I'd like to add a ssd in the M2 slot. The slot seems to be an M2 NVMe but in the asus website says that support a SATA M2. So I don't know which one I have to buy. Thank you very much and I hope you can get my english 😅

Hello. English is great! I'm surprised, but your model only supports 2280 m.2 sata ssd , not nvme. Your model can also take a 2.5 inch sata ssd. Crucial mx500 series m.2 sata ssd is good. Dale

Hey I have a similar question I am upgrading my ssd to a 1tb from Sabrent and if buy a hyperx fury 32gb ram should it work ok
@edjett2631
3 жыл бұрын
If you have this model ASUS Vivobook, then you can only add 16gb for a total of 20. The Sabrent 1 Tb should work, but you need to check with Sabrent.

It looks like there is a space for a 2.5 inch 7mm HDD or SSD drive next to the batter right under the M.2 SSD. Will the laptop support two drives at the same time, the M.2 ssd and a 2.5?

Hi, a 16 GB DDR4 2666 will it work on this model? On Asus webpage, says it only support DDR4-2400

Probably. Everything on their website told me mine was 2400 but it came with a Samsung 4GB DDR4-2666 and I put in a Crucial (Micron) 16GB DDR4-2666 with no problem.
