Great vid, especially as someone who just moved from the Midwest to Boston a couple years ago and is still figuring out the terrain here. Appreciate it man!

Thanks for the insight. I think the compact presentation is great advice. Also, i liked you input on bite detection. Not alot said about this in videos i’ve seen. What i’ve found that helps me is keeping slight tension on the line to feel the taps. Thanks!

The mustache gives you credibility. I'll tie on my jig this evening and give it another shot.

For me it’s 7ft mh xtra fast. 20lb Fluro and an 8.1 reel. This is why I love fishing whatever works. Well works

Good stuff. I picked up jig fishing last Summer here in NJ and haven't put it down. Do you trim your skirts? I use the Rage menace in the Moon Juice color. The tails imitate a bluegill really well!

I love those types of color patterns. I usually don’t trim skirts since I’m usually throwing small profile jigs anyway.

I might have missed it if you said in the video. But what jig do you have tied on, and what are your favorites ?

That one is a googan juicee jig in a bluegill color. I do love the strike king flipping jigs though. Can never go wrong with green or black and blue.

On the subject of line. 17lb test braid, green speckled, #8. I know, I know, this line for this situation, that line for that situation, mono, flouro, yea, yea, that's all fine and dandy. I want line that if, and I stress a major IF, I hang into a stupid trophy largemouth that is dumb enough to attack my lure, which is about all I have access to where I fish, I don't want a repeat of the lost buzzbait incident from 2023. I want the equivalent of crane cable on that reel. When I set a hook I want it to yank the fish out of the water. I don't know that much about fishing line, but I do know from experience that 6lb crap line that came with the reel didn't stand a chance against the Orca that sucked my buzzbait under the water and was gone in an instant when I attempted to set the hook. As for Jig fishing, I caught six teenager sized bass on a brown jig with a grub like trailer reeling it in near the top of the water because of all the moss under it. The Bass were shooting out from under the moss and grabbing it on the fly as it passed by.

Definitely on spinning reels 10-20lb braid is a good choice. The only tricky thing with braid is that the knot can slip very easily, so it needs to be very strong
