I love the R0de Go but the output levels are too high for my camcorder and when I use it with the Lavalier Go mic the output sounds very nasal, no matter where the placement is :-( The inbuilt R0de Go mic is way better than the lav, which is disappointing since the R0de Lav was *not* cheap!

You can easily fix nasal vocals by using an Eq. Nasal frequency can range from around 1KHz to 2.5KHz (especially 2KHz to 2.5KHz). Now you can mess around with any EQ and reduce those frequencies. Listen closely as you reduce those and try not to overdo it as those frequencies generally contain most vowels. Reducing any kind of frequencies may result in an increase of others, so please be a little careful. Hope that helps!

@@ApplePi31415 I know... but the R0de lav mic is not cheap, I expected the performance to be aligned to the price-point but there are much cheaper lavs that work much better I'm afraid. The bare R0de Go mic sounds much, much better than the lav running through the Go system. Based on my own experiences I would not recommend the R0de lav mic I'm afraid. I have other R0de mics that work great -- just not this one.

Another tip, you can team a smartLav+, and two mobile phones for really high production quality value phone videos. One phone on a gimbal or tripod to record video and an ambient audio reference track, while the talent's voice is recorded via smartLav+ onto a phone in their pocket using either the camera app or even a dedicated sound recording app for higher quality audio files. I've also used this to make a discreet audio recording device while I've shot the corresponding video hand holding my drone. I think personally it makes the smartLav+ a better choice no matter what you're recording video on.

Torture. At 2:02, you do a movement so slickly and quickly that I couldn't follow it. I had to run back and forth over the section of the clip many times to follow it. There are two ways to put the mic on the clip, and you demonstrated one way without warning that there is also the other way. A charming presentation, a great presenter, slick and quick, but torture for a dumb person such as me trying to follow your instructions. Next time, try doing the several steps, perhaps with several runs to show different views, slowly and so that the watcher can easily see how to do it all. A clever person would probably not need the video at all. But I am dumb. That's why I needed the video.

So there are a couple of solutions for this: you can connect two lavaliers to a device like an Ai-Micro and then plug that into a smartphone or computer for your interviews. Or you can use a lavalier with a Wireless GO II or Wireless ME via the 3.5mm jack for up to two mics per receiver (this can be used with your camera, phone or computer).

Sometimes one track from the lav mic sounds a bit dry.

Really! Pointing this mic sideways may work in a closed controlled studio environment, however using it outside or in a noisey environment is not going to be ideal as unwanted noise will get into the mix more prevalently. In addition, the weight and bulk of the mic is pulling her collar down in an obvious way, which otherwise would’ve looked great. I wonder if this is the actual audio from the mic! Just as well Helena is wearing a black shirt, as it does reduce the distraction. Also, why have background music when you’re trying to feature the mic! On another note, I have been waiting for about 2 months for Rode to supply VXLR+ adapter’s. What’s going on. I thought their product’s are made in Australia. Not really good enough Rode. I agree, Helena does a great job.

Hi Heen, I bought a lavalier lapel mic and tested it on voice memos and it does record. My question is how do I record a video on my IPhone so that the mic picks up the audio recording? I thought I had to record my mic audio through hitting "record" on the voice memo app but then when I go to my camera to record a video, that automatically takes over and my voice is not being recorded via the mic. How do I get the mic to record my vocals while filming the video? Thanks in advance
