Interesting video. Never driven a car with a choke so I'd be a novice with this. Very useful if I ever drive one. Thanks 😁

Awesome vid to explain the art of using a manual choke - actually prefer them! Give my bike full choke & no throttle & it fires up first or second kick. Unfortunately its a spring loaded all or nothing choke so leave it to warm up on full choke & get my gear on then when its just about to flood after a few mins, give it a few blips of the throttle to clear it and raise the revs as its knock off choke and settles. Just wish it had a nice lever to back it off gradually like your car 🤩

I'm glad you enjoyed this video, I enjoyed making it. So easy when you know how! That sounds like a very specific technique to perform a cold start!

my last car with an automatic choked carb was an 83 Honda Prelude, double barrel double carbs and it was a pig , i converted to manual and got them tuned professionally and the car was then a hoot to drive

That's what most owners had to do to get them working properly! The days of road tuning are a dying trade now.

There was a manual choke on my father's first own car (1975 Lada 1300 / VAZ-21011) That was a fun-to-drive car, rwd with a 4 speed manual trans. My first driving experience, at the age of 12. :-))

My first car was a MK1 escort. Used to have to keep a peg in the car as when you pulled the choke out it would slide back to the off position, the peg just held it in position until the car warmed up

Didn't the choke lock itself by twisting the knob? That is something I've seen many times at car shows!
