Since my heart attack in 2016 I walk with a staff when hiking(my commmunist state doesnt allow carry). These videos really help me. Thanks

@@stephen8433 Up until recently Maryland..my state..made it nearly impossible. Now..I have a carry permit. I will utilize my stick initially..but if the situation warrants it the gun is there. And I practice with a blue gun

While I live in Texas... been in martial arts for 40 years, IPSC/IDPA pistol competition for 25 years, attended multiple schools, and, of course, I have my CHL/LTC license still this is an excellent practical guide to SD with a walking stick (and I hike to!) I probably will have a gun but... I like the walking stick option to!

I’ve actually placed my gun at the tip of the walker, now using it as a sort of handle, so I have the best of both worlds ANNDDD I looks like a character from Final Fantasy 8! The downside is that every once in awhile I accidentally pull the trigger & put a hold in the earth 😢. Love the vids. Love these vids, so informative👍🏻 Question- So if an attacker lowers his chin, making a strike to the neck difficult- wouldn’t a good hard whack across the eyes or to the temple be a good option? Or should one just break said attacker’s chin while swinging for the throat? Subscribed!

I like learning techniques using staffs for self defense because they can also be beneficial for cane self defense. I prefer having a cane when in public areas they are not seen as a weapon and are the perfect covert defense tool.

Thanks for the video. You seem to be making thrusts in order to get your bags to move, but I can't tell whether you are advocating thrusts as part of self-defense. Should someone try to thrust hard to the gut to lower the attacker's hands?

The hand positions are kind of like the difference between batting right-handed or left-handed with a baseball bat? I'm 84 and I can still swing pretty good. I'm in the woods about four days a week with my dogs. They give me some prep time but I carry as well.

Good targets to cause pain and immobilize are the inside of the knee, it will cause lasting pain and immobility, and for your high strike, hit the clavicle. It is an easy bone to break , and I use it with Han bo to take out a violent or knife armed attacker out. Once broken the arm and usually the attacker is out of the fight

My walking staff is there firstly as a walking staff, and I think more time should be spent learning how best to walk with one. Many people new to a waling staff have no idea and give up on them. Having said that, it is there for aggressive dogs, and weirdoh"s. I am just out for for some exercise, not really looking for trouble. The walking staff has to perform firstly as a walking staff. is all I am saying. the rest is nice but not primary.
