Awesome. Thank you. I agree with others I wish I had you as a teacher in every single one of every class that I have ever taken through school in college I like your pace, I like how you do not linger on any one subject If you taught for five minutes, it would take a lot of other teachers. 15 minutes to say the same thing lol. Thank you so much. I’m glad I just found you and I’m signing up. I had downloaded Airtable before, but I thought it was this stupid, generic spreadsheet that couldn’t help me much. You are opening my eyes to the possibilities now. Thank you so much

I use an Airtable form that allows me to select any outstanding Order ID/Item ID/Item Name combinations to a receiving database. It works except EXCEPT the wrapping of the "Order ID/Item ID/Item Name" field does NOT wrap in the form so you can't see what you are selecting. Is there any solution/suggestion for this? (And thank you - your videos are wonderful!)

Thank you, Gareth, for this and all the other instructional videos you have posted. They have been very helpful to me. My question is: Can you add questions to an Airtable form that has already collected data? With other words, will the added questions cause any problems to the "old" data?
@GarethPronovost
2 жыл бұрын
Hi - I think you're asking if it's possible to add new fields to a form, is that right? If so, then YES! You can always add new fields/tables to your Airtable databases without destroying pre-existing data. The old data will simply have blank answers for these new questions!

How do you deal with Lookup with a Form? Such that you can view/search a record and view details about it?
@GarethPronovost
Жыл бұрын
I think you're looking for a form within a form... sounds like you want to see information about linked records as you navigate the form. For this I'd recommend 3rd party options since Airtable can't handle this natively. You might check out www.fillout.com/?ref=gapconsulting (we'll have a video coming out for this shortly, stay tuned!)

The link for each form is available in the form setup. you can send them manually to people using email/Slack/etc. or you can build an automation within Airtable to send the links

Hey Gareth! Thanks for the video. I hope you can help me decide, I wanna work with air table but I have some concerns with price "per seat", I'm not sure if I fully understand it. Because I have team members that only submit some data into the database.. but not really work within it, and also don't want to give them the main user and password to access ALL the data. I was thinking on giving forms to them. Will it bill me as another collaborator? For each person filling the form? Is there a work around to pay only for one seat. But Have some people adding some info to some tables?
@GarethPronovost
Жыл бұрын
If people only enter data through forms, they will not be billed as collaborators. If they access your data in an Airtable Interface or are added to your database directly, they will incur charges per license depending on the plan you are on. Note that they can access data or interfaces with read-only access and WILL NOT incur a charge. Only if they have commenter permissions or better will you be billed for them.

Okay i have since found out that yes this is all possible, but, can you answer this please - for a multiple choice Q, most other forms allow an 'other' option where they can type in their own option. Is this possible?
@GarethPronovost
2 жыл бұрын
Hi! An "other" option is available if you create a long text field as a separate field to your multi-select field. In the multi-select field, create an option called "other" - then build a condition in your new long text field that only allows it to appear on the form if/when someone clicks "other" It's a conditional element on your form that will only show up when someone selects the "other" option and will allow them to fill out some text. Hope this helps! 🙌

Gareth, this is a great video. I have learned alot from you from not even knowing what Airtable was to have a pretty complicated airtable database at present. What I want to do now is use a webform to add someone to my database while having them select certain from predetermined drop down fields. When they are done, I want them to receive an email to the email address they have provided with one of multiple PDFs. Is this possible?
@GarethPronovost

Totally possible. You'd build an automation to send the email triggering from a received form. The "path" of the automation would choose which PDF they get!

Hi, Is there a way to create a form in which it will be possible to choose a option based on category I choosen? First field "Car company" I choose for ex. Audi So in the next field I can choose types like: A1, A2, A3, A4, R8....... But if I would choose diffrent complany in first field for example Ford in next field I will have option to choose related with Ford like Mondeo, Focus .... Is it possible to create such a form? Im willing to upgrade my account to pro version even. THX!

I am also interested to know of forms will do a solution like this. I want it for inventory input so if I choose lamp it will give me special fields to input the shade dimensions and the height of the base at the top of socket and top and bottom of neck for example. Then if I choose a bed it's a whole other set of measurements to input.

As a new user of Airtable, how do you let a user use a form without having to 'enter' the database with all its options? How do I save a form and how do I activate the form?
@GarethPronovost
3 ай бұрын
You don't need to save a form, any changes you make are instantly available in the public URL. Each form is activated automatically and can be shared by using the share link or embedded on a website! Users submit data in the form without logging into Airtable, so they don't need to be users ✅

Thank you Gareth, I am fairly new to Airtable and learning a lot from your videos. I also use Jotform and I have a question about integrating the two. I need to create a dynamic dropdown in a field that is dependent on what is selected in another dropdown. I am planning to do this in Jotform using my Airtable base. Do I need Zapier for this?

Gareth, I am trying to create a form, that is used by +100 different affiliates of mine. The first question on that form is a dropdown menu of the names of every affiliate I have. Is it possible for me to generate a unique link to GIVE to my affiliate so that when they share that link with their customers the dropdown will be PRE-SELECTED and fixed to their name only? If this makes sense, it would be awesome for a simple response or even a tutorial
@GarethPronovost

Thanks for watching - yes you'll want to explore how to prefill forms in Airtable. You might start with this tutorial here (kzitem.info/news/bejne/1o-vvK6FsqKGoKg) I've shared the timestamp where we dive into the prefill capabilities. The only hiccup here is that the folks who fill out the form could choose to change this data. In a perfect world, I'd recommend that you prefill the form, but keep it hidden! This isn't possible to do in an Airtable form, but it is possible if you use a 3rd-party form tool. My recommendation for this is JotForm - here's a video that shows you how! kzitem.info/news/bejne/0oahwIKcenWnmW0

Hi, good video. Quick q, can you have formula fields in forms, for example that calculates a total based on 2 values you input further up the form? Thank you
@GarethPronovost
2 жыл бұрын
Hi Rocky, you can't have the formula field in the form itself, but it can calculate the total when the form is submitted with 2 other values. The only fields that can go into a form are editable fields, and a formula is not editable. But it can def do the calculation in your Airtable base after the form is received! 💪

Great video. Thanks Gareth! I had a couple of questions. Can AT Form send an automated email to the applicant's email address after they submit their form? Also, if this and other functions are beyond AT's form builder, which 3rd party apps do you recommend that work well with AT? I'd like to automate as much of the info from the form into my table as possible. THanks again!
@GarethPronovost
2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jacob, yes Airtable can do this, provided the email address is something that you are asking in the form. Check out the automation feature in Airtable (we have many videos on the topic, as do others). Sometimes you will need to go beyond Airtable, depending on the complexity of your form and how you want to store the data. For more complex forms, my preference is JotForm or TypeForm. From there, you'll want to push the data into Airtable, so you'll likely want Zapier or Make for automation. If you haven't already, you may want to check out our fundamental automation training: garethpronovost.com/webinar-registration
