$50 dollars upgrade for existing users to get a mix knob is just disrespectful.

I think that the mix knob is the most useless thing on autotune since it has the flex tune to blend the effect or automate it.

Since UA Anatres has to pay for licensing this product, it's fine to pay for the X version. Even if you have Auto-Tune directly from Antares, you have to pay for the UG. That's not just UA's fault.

I feel like the UAD Versions of Autotune when tracking kills the vibrato in your voice. Not good for subtle tuning via tracking. I've used every combination of settings, but it doesn't work. I don't get that problem with the standard Antares versions. Bought the UAD version for tracking years ago and I just don't use it. The new version is the same...Please look into this if you can, UAD.

I thought a $50 was a great deal for this upgrade. You don’t just get an extra knob, you also get the most up to date algorithms available for this plug-in. It would’ve been great to have the graphical functions included, but that’s what Melodyne is for, so no worries.

“..for pitch-perfect vocals” No mention whatsoever about how horrible that sounds. How totally unmusical such use is. An entire generation hasn’t heard the beauty of a talented singer using pitch as an emotional tool. The music biz’s response? More tuning. More clumsy production. Tin-eared radio programmers rejecting music lacking this soul-crushing technology, sending it back for ‘improvement.’ The discussion among the musically clueless is always about what they can do, never about what they should do. And the music suffers in a race to the bottom.

So Many Artists Out Here Can Sing Autotune Is Just An Extra Plus To The Vocals Just Because Something Isn’t To Your Liking Doesn’t Mean Other People Don’t Enjoy It You Don’t Know What Other People Are Going Through and What An Artists Song Done To The Listener

@@10MilliJay You could not be more wrong. Autotune is a failure of my art of music. This is not a taste thing. It has been foisted on us by broadcasters too afraid they will reveal the inadequacy of a performer and be criticized for the outcome. It is a horrendous sound, like nails on a chalkboard to anyone who loves the art of music. The only reason it persists is that a long line of pretenders who can’t sing, won’t make the effort to learn to sing, have no right whatsoever to sing, think it’s musically acceptable to cheat their audience, to be liars on the stage and even in the studio, polluting the community of real singers who can move us with their talent. Anyone who does not hear the atrocious sound of autotune is simply tone-deaf. But, you be you.

@@artysanmobile music and art are subjective big bro. It's not about the outdated perspectives we have on sound, it's about whether or not the sound makes people feel things. Didn't use to like it either, but there is something about it that is reaching people. It's not perfect, it's different. Music is the what emotions sound like. If it makes people feel, then great. Also, why are we drawing the line at pitch correction? The amount of processing we use in modern music is already "cheating" if you want to go there. Folks don't have to worry about singing at a consistent volume the whole time because of condenser/dynamic mics, amplifiers and compression. For the same reason, they don't have to project in a way that'll fill an amphi because we have speakers. They don't have to spend as much time worrying about tone because we're EQing them. They don't need to have every instrument on stage because they can pair that with their instrument tracks. With vocal comping and multi-tracking, they don't need to perform the entire song to have it recorded right. They don't need to use background singers because they can stack. We mimic time based audio returns with processing, and drive input and output to distort sound in ways that translate well aesthetically for guitars, synths, drums, vocals and more. Through that, we access human emotions differently. Hell, we tune drums. All these things are performance enhancing tech based methods that take away from one/many of the aspects of the craft previous performers had to spend more time & effort on. Again, where do you draw the line? Better yet, why? To me autotune is like a flanger pedal, a distortion pedal or a reverb pedal. It's an effect that enhances performance. With that being said, by now, you have people who use it better than others. To say it's not music, or that the singers who use it shouldn't be singing (many of whom would probably be getting robbed and shunned as songwriters by labels, agents and A&Rs) is misguided at best and pompous at worst. Like crying about Jimi Hendrix's performance of the national anthem because it was shredded on an aggressive electric guitar. The only thing I do think needs to happen is that vocalists need to practice performing with gear that makes their live performance feel the same way their studio recordings do. They also need to practice singing into the box, instead using to correct already poorly delivered (delivery, not pitch) vocals. Live tuning/stacking/FX processors are about $300 a pop, and autotune users should be rehearsing with them, so they can deliver a live performance on par with their studio recordings, and expand on what the technology can do to take it from crutch to craft. That's what I'm committing to doing. (Mind you I'm still planning to take vocal lessons)
