Thanks so much, if anyone can't access the Access Policies for their key vault because it's set to use RBAC, you can change it to use Access Policies instead. Go to your key vault > Access configuration > Permission model > Select vault access policy and apply

And if you can't List/View your secrets in the KeyVault you need to add your own principal/email you use for your account under access policies with the same permissions as you did with the App Registration, or maybe just View permission in this case.

Hey Israel! Wanna THANK you a lot! I've spent few days trying to figure out the correct way to use a connection string from azure key vault... all examples were out of date or didn't work! But your instructions were crystal clear and it worked like a charm! You're awesome! Thanks a lot and wish you a good luck! p.s Subscribed and Liked ;)

Does the client call azure key vault on every request or just the first time the application starts? What if I'm also storing my jwt signing key, and I have a method the generates a token. How should I handle that case?

Hey Israel, helpful video, thankyou. Question: So now my code has an appsettings file with these 4 settings from my azure account: vKeyVaultUrl, KeyVaultClientId, KeyVaultClientSecret, KeyVaultDirectoryId. Is it safe now to commit this to my source repository like github etc?
@IsraelQuiroz

Hey Dave! so you could if that is as far as you want to take it, but technically this video is only a part 1 on my channel PERSONALLY I WOULDN'T and would follow, this video of mine -> kzitem.info/news/bejne/sJuP3misjqViqaw this is the way i would do it for production and cut out any production settings from my app settings completely and only keep local development stuff in app settings, so hope that helps answer your question!

Think I'm missing something here..well I know I am!! It seems to me that what you are doing is removing the connection string etc and instead storing secrets held in Azure keyVault. But those secrets are still in plain text in the appsettings.json file and are still hard coded in there? I've never used Azure or similar so I may have a fundamental misunderstanding. I'm looking to implement a multi-tenant system and having trouble understanding how my front end login will authenticate with a RESTApi and from the login credentials determine which tenant (and thus which SQL database/connection string) it is. Appreciate this is adding another level of complexity but just trying to understand the concepts.

check the link to the video i pinned in my comment at the top! that video was the next step to this one! this was just one step in moving to AZ KV but now you are right, now we just added more secrets to the app settings basically u need to move the users to Azure! and use Azure AD or some other form they provide you for auth but watch my video on Managed Identities and i think it will help you out! again link is in my pinned comment :)
