I am one with the super thick hair and it is driving me crazy! It's in a bun or French braided all the time. I have been trying to learn different braids and your tutorials are sooooo awesome i love them!

I realized that I put too much hair in the pins, but I wasn't sure how to fix that. The trick of placing my finger on the strands that are holding the twist is (I think) going to really help me!!

Love this tutorial - there were so many good tips and tricks. Unfortunately, Metagrip bobby pins aren't available in Denmark where I live and I've been struggling to find some bobby pins that can hold my very thick hair - and on, I'm very sorry but I can't just curl it and wear it down as it's way too warm for me to have any other way than up and away from my face and my neck. It's super straight as well and I still haven't found an easy way to wear it in a simple messy bun. I guess there is no such thing as the perfect and easy hair 😉

Pinksupergrl95 Luckily, I found some heavy duty bobby pins on Asos and at a dance shop I found some Japanese hair pins - together they're able to hold my hair but I still need to use a lot of them to make the hairstyle last. If you're struggling to make your bobby pins stay in your hair and not just slide out, you could try spraying some hair spray to the pins before putting them in your hair. That should provide some grit and help the pins staying in your hair where you actually inserted them. Maybe that'll work for you. I'll keep my fingers crossed 😉

Abby ,we use the same brand of bobby pins/roller pins. I love Metagrip bobby pins and have been buying them for years. I started using them because I have very thick hair and these bobby pins are super secure. I recommend these bobby pins to everyone and I’m constantly telling my friends to stop buying cheap drugstore bobby pin. Drugstore brands do not work the same way. Once you start using metagrip bobby pons you will never go back.

I keep the ridge side on my scalp but otherwise I do most of the same things. I have no problem keeping pins in my hair as I have very thick curly hair (I just have to use a lot of them to hold the weight of my hair) but my daughter as soft medium hair. So I will spray a spritz of hairspray on them. When I'm doing other people's hair for a special occasion I tell them no freshly washed hair. You are so correct with clean hair makes pins slip out. One last thing I can think of is that there are different pin sizes, metagrip has a bunch of different sized pins. If you have thick hair and find that regular sized ones don't work well for you. Try the larger ones or a mint of hair pins (those are v shaped almost like a stretched bobby pin) and regular bobby pins. If you have a small child or thin hair I use a mix of the regular sized bobby pins as well as the small ones. That's all I have but the extra long metagrip pins work really well trying to make your own hair bows or accessories. You can also make those pin styled ponytail holders with two bobby pins and thin elastic. Okay now that's all I have. Love the video!

The "toe" (the end part that sticks up) on the bobby pins should be against your scalp to hold the hairdo and pin in your hair. The flat side will more than likely slip out.
