Always go one size larger to be on the safe side. For example if the charts tell me that I need a 2x6 then why not use a 2x8, two - 2x6 or a 4x6 and if you're not sure of your building type, span and other important structural engineering information not found in this book, then contact a structural engineer for assistance.
