Now after you sculpted and drived your corrective shapekey try to twist the forearm bone and look at the ugly mess it produces. In cases like this, when you have to preserve big volume losses you better use volume preservational joints, it is the best approach in this case and a corrective shapekeys is best for finer details when you don't pull the vertices significantly. Also as a driver don't use rotational axis, use a bone with a stretch to constraint that contracts when you rotate the arm and then use 0.5 Y scale as a target value that will drive a shape or a joint. This way it eliminates any twisting problems.

at the begining i noticed arms weirdly rotates, my guess is you are using euler rotations, try quaternions, it should solve the problem, always use quaternions with characters animations, euler has really bad translation between keyframes

Very useful ive been doing it wrong from so many years ! Can we push this technique to display muscular muscle on more than one axis rotation for example pectoral muscle growing when the arm are puqhing front up would be awesome to play with

Asking the real questions here. All 3D game engine support animations and I'm pretty sure all major game engine support shape keys, but I'm not sure it's easy to combine them with animations. The drivers won't transfer at all. If anyone has experience with that I would like to hear that too.

No, because as long as the multires modifier is not applied, it’s not "real" geometry (meaning that you can’t manipluate it in edit mode, and shape keys only work with the vertices in edit mode).

If you have the value at half way, is there a way to take the shape key off and the object stay at the halfway point? The reason that I am asking is because I did this, and I want to joint multiple objects but when I do they all revert back to the way they were at 0 value.

Hey I know this is from three years ago, but the way I see it you could create another shape key, and blend from shape of the target shape key at half the scale (there is a slider at the bottom left when you call the operation)
