Great job. Nice to find another 'super-fan' of these Deutsch connectors. I discovered them while working with our Aggregate plant electricians working on Caterpillar front end loaders. I've used them on multiple motorcycle projects. I have the same four way crimper. It works great. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Definitely the way to go for any exterior wire connection.👍 The upgradability and flexibility is priceless. THAT'S why the regular parts stores don't carry these! I'm using two four pin sets for a bumper reflector insert that has LED backup lights.

Ya there are better ones for sure. But the Deutsch HDT-48-00 crimp tool (for solid barrels) is $329 on Amazon, over $400 on Walmart. The one he used is $32.79 on Amazon now - 10x less! That's a big difference. I don't mind spending for good tools but not 10x as much.
@soldermecold7456
Жыл бұрын
@@rcanoli99 I have these cheap ones as well, I don’t like them at all. You can’t fine tune the crimp and you need 3 separate crimpers for each size. IWISS makes the same high end tool for less than $200, all sizes, and with a go no-go gauge. It’s basically a clone of the $500 tool.

So, I took the bumper off of my 2013 Mustang GT and that ripped the backup camera wire. That wire had no plugs and runs from the rear bumper to all the way in cockpit. Randy here, Lake Ariel, PA. Doing a wire project with a light bar. Cant find these wires anywhere. I ordered a wire that looks similar but its only 5 feet. I noticed the "garbage" pins crimp both the wire and the sleeve in place, while the easy pin only crimps the wire, which could potentially slide the tip away from the sleeve with pushing and pulling. Makes me wonder if it's trading ease of use for security, or is it a non issue..

Good video, just a couple of points... 1. i'm with you on the barrel contacts and crimper, very easy to use, way easier than open barrel terminals. 2. you're not showing a true Deutsch connector on Amazon, those are knockoffs. I've used too, didn't realize they're knockoffs, but not using again, don't trust the integrity of the raw materials or their mfg controls. 3. The true Deutsch connectors are a little pricey, like an 8 pin connector kit is about $22, and I need about 10 of em.
