Wow, thank you very much for this video, you are doing a really great job, rather than just going through, you actually knows what you are talking about and knows how to explain things,

Thanks for the video, for years I hope someone make an in depth video about the DSP settings.. it would be amazing if you could do it! Thank you!

Equilibrium is expensive. I just came across your channel today. Really good information. I appreciate your detailed and nuanced presentation. I am just learning how to work with DAWs and I also use Reaper on a Mac. I am also interested in your studio setup - what gear (hardware) you use and how it is configured. Thank you!

Poor DMG Audio always get left out these days, it's all Pro Q and now the Kirchhoff - but they did it first and there's one thing the DMG still has as an option that the other two don't. CONSOLE mode, where all knobs are visible at once. That massively speeds up workflow for me but maybe that's just me.

Did you ever make that video about the difference between minimum phase and linear phase bands? Or was it referring to the entire equalizer? Also, some of value I see from your videos IS the fact that you can get into some more highly technical topics, so please do!

Hi Eirikur! Thanks for the reminder! :) The general strategy that we use is to have linear phase for bands used for narrow cutting in the upper regions, and minimum phase for the rest. This will usually give the best trade-off between pre-ringing and loss of transient clarity. We'll definitely dive deeper into this subject in a later video! /Thomas

Great video, thanks for the review, I've just got one last question about this DMG EQ, when you boost the curves with one of the various hardware modelled curves, does it mimic the sound of the hardware unit it's modelled off? Or are they just digital curves modelled without any form of character from the hardware unit modelled off?

We can happily do another Equilibrium video, it's such a great tool! Are you currently using it and if so what are you using it for?

@@MasteringExplained'm using Equilibrium for mixing. All those DSP parameters are daunting, and so many pages! A video on those would be VERY helpful - or, just let us know what settings you use - that would probably be the most helpful of all! Thanks in advance!

Great video. How would you use Equilibrium for mixing. Do you have a good starting point / preset …. any tips?
@MasteringExplained

For mixing, when you have many instances of Equilibrium, we would use it in IIR mode instead of FIR. This makes it less CPU intensive. Other than that, the same tips for mastering really also apply to mixing. Equilibrium is a really good tool to examine sounds, overtones, resonances etc by solo listening to the area you are working with. This is also one of the fastest ways to train the ears! /Sofia

👍 The preset in the description works great for mixing as well. As Sofia said, just set it to IIR mode if you want to use it on many tracks. /Thomas
