As a University instructor this breakout room extension is going to be a lifesaver without sacrificing class time or having to log off and log back on midway through class - since zoom has a time limit. Thank so much this is a great video.

Make a Google Slides with all the links. ☺ Share it with you're students. But don't let them join until you've started all the breakout rooms on your end.

Great channel, thank you so much. I haven’t been able to figure out how to copy images from pdf files and copy them into pages or keynote or PowerPoint... And is notability 5 able to do that
@BeardSquaredEdtech
4 жыл бұрын
Thank you. The easiest way to copy images from PDFs is to take a screen shot. Then insert image into keynotes or PowerPoint. Goodnotes 5 and notability both offer native screen shot features. But no need for that, since you can take screen shot on ipad.

Somewhat helpful. I am a teacher. I use Google Classroom. Google Classroom has links for Google Meets. So when you say add a nickname, I'm confused. How are my students going to join a Google meet with a nickname? Everything I've done to date with GM and Zoom, is create rooms, open them up and send the students to their rooms. I am very confused.
@BeardSquaredEdtech

Just use the links from your Google classroom. I create nicknames for my meetings for more control.

Do you have to use the same google meet code each time? Is there a way to set it up with the random class codes you get each time you start a google meet in google classroom?
@BeardSquaredEdtech
3 жыл бұрын
In Google classroom the meet codes aren't random (they are automatically generated once, and then stay the same). You can use these codes to setup your main room. Then use different codes to create codes/links for your break out rooms.

If it works on your MacBook air then I guess it would work on mine. I was wondering if it was too taxing on the ram of my computer.

Hi!!! I do exactly what you are presenting and in the part of copying and pasting the link to my classroom class, the link is shortened, and does not appear as you point out. I tried anyway to continue, but I realized that the students did not enter the main class for this reason. Could you please help me with this?

Although my default account is different from the school account to which the code is sent, I am wondering if I now would have to schedule Meet meetings from my default as opposed to my school account when conducting meetings the breakout?

Entering the google meet you have to accept (or refuse) different users. What about accepting/refusing in break out rooms?
@BeardSquaredEdtech
3 жыл бұрын
As a host you can set up your account to refuse participants by turning off quick access via host controls. As for the breakout rooms, you can edit the rooms and select the students you want in each room. Participants can't join without you putting them there. They will receive a notification to join the breakout room.

Hi, how do you zoom in and out your breakout room tabs @9:50? And how can you assign students to room1 or other room? Thank you.
@BeardSquaredEdtech

Zoom 🔎 using trackpad, app switcher. You need to give your students the link to their assigned room.

If my students and I come to the meet through the usual weekly Google Calendar notification, (it's the same link as the main room link), and I open and sync only the breakout rooms, will I still have functional main room controls since I didn't launch from the breakout extension panel?
@BeardSquaredEdtech
4 жыл бұрын
Great question. You'd have to connect through the extension to have control of all the windows. If you started your main room through Google meet or calendar, you won't have control of it through the chrome extension.

I have a question: let's see that teacher A does a breakout room with 2 students. Teacher B remains in the main room with the rest of the students. However, my question is, will teacher A be locked out of the main room if Teacher B exits out the main room?

Teacher A and B can be in multiple rooms at the sand time. No one will be locked out.

Do the breakout rooms work on an iPad
@BeardSquaredEdtech
4 жыл бұрын
Not really. Chrome extensions don’t work on ipad safari or chrome browsers. Full stop 🛑. However, if you’re using google meet enterprise then breakout rooms are built in, then yes 👍 they’ll work on your iPad.

If your school district has Google Gsuite for enterprise (upgraded edition) then here's your sole fix kzitem.info/news/bejne/pJei0Z6neoKAZG0 Otherwise, you're options are limited to using the chrome extension as above. However, create a Google slide with all the group names and a link to that breakout room for them to click. That'll be simple enough for them to use.
