In this tutorial, I demonstrate how to use the guided upright tool in Lightroom to make sure that the verticals are vertical, and the horizontals are horizontal. A great shortcut is shift and the letter T takes you directly to the transform panel with the tool active no matter where you start in Lightroom classic

Thanks Anthony, I use this fairly often on architectural photos. Sometimes impossible to get it right in camera. Not sure why anyone would dislike this but hey....................

In some cases, particularly looking at multi-story buildings, I find that if make the verticals completely upright, it looks "wrong" to me, as I know there should be some sort of convergence toward a vanishing point. In those cases, when I draw the vertical lines with this tool I'll start from the lower edge of a corner or other vertical, but select a point a small bit (may need some trial-and-error) toward the near edge for the top point. Then when I have both verticals drawn, it eliminates the worst of the distortion, but leaves enough in that it does not look unnatural (at least to my eye).

I have never been able to use this tool properly. Hopefully, after your tutorial this will change. Thank you!

A great tool indeed! But: you don’t need 2 lines horizontal or two vertical. One line horizontally and a second vertically would also be enough to straighten the picture. Depends on the picture, how much you need, but two for each direction are the maximum.

Use the Fill option ( content aware) on the dead pixels parts. Work great most of the time.
@sounderdavis5446

I know you can try content-aware fill by leaving Constrain Crop unchecked and then Editing the image with white areas in Photoshop, but is there a way to do that directly in Lightroom after Transform? And yes, there's a way to do content-aware fill in Lightroom by checking the Fill Edges box in Panoramic Merge, but again: after Transform?

Thank you. I’ve been using Auto or the separate sliders without taking the time to explore the Guided button. This is much better.

I'm confused: you simply connect two points to form the pre-existing line's angle or click the second point to where it should be to be perfectly vertical or horizontal? 😢

It is surprising too how well "auto" often works in Transform; less work! :0)

The Auto button is certainly worth a try. It works many times but sometimes produces goofy results. I suspect the reason Anthony didn't try Auto first with this monument image is that it *would* have corrected the tilt without giving him the opportunity to use "Guided."

Instead of crop constrain leave the empty pixels, then just content aware fill in PS if needs be
