I can’t get mine to work at all. When pulled out of the water the motor runs for a split second and stops. It has done this twice but placed in the water and the motor doesn’t work at all. I wish it had an on/off switch so I could see if it was receiving power.

The flosat IS the on/off switch...The tip of the float switch has to be upright or at a max of ~100degs from vertical, after which, the ball in the sensor will run to the tip, cutting off power, as a safety feature. float can be clipped to the top handle/ring for continuous pumping - BUT will be able to run dry and motor to overheat if not monitored

How do you change water flow from quick to slow?

You dont , the pump was sucking in air as it was not immersed in enough water so the flow was a trickle then a burst flow. The flow rate is determined by the pipe size you put on it , bigger pipe = faster flow, the half inch standard hose that was attached in the vid would slow down the free flow considerably, without any pipe attached the water jet arc reaches over 6ft high at a distance of 6ft

Why did you take one base off then add the other then remove it so it has none ?

The base that was taken off is the 30mm solids filter (for dirty water, but not leaves), its the highest base so has a higher minimum water level. the base that was fitted is for cleaner water pond/pool/water butt, lower down = lower minimum level. Without any base fitted, for clean water like a pool to empty down to the minimum of about 10mm

That’s not very fast for a 18000L pump

That's because it is a poor demo, 1/reducing the pipe diameter down to hosepipe size 0.5" from a possible 1.5", 2/not placing pump in enough volume and water depth (should be immersed at 45deg to allow most air out of chamber) to allow the float to operate as it should 3/ tight bend in the outlet pipe. If you want anywhere near 18000lt/h use decent corrugated pond pipe with 1.5" diameter and as short as possible to do the job I can fill a 85lt dustbin from a waterbutt 10m away in a couple of minutes
