Hi Melissa, comparing to Cerave SA Cleanser, which one do you prefer and recommend to my blackheads, closed comedones, bumpy skin problems? I already have 2 1/2%bp gel and 0.1retinal+0.3retinol serum in my night routine and Cerave Vitamin C in the morning.
@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet
Жыл бұрын
I would not recommend using an extra SA product, as this will likely be too much. For blackheads, the best and easiest option is to use a blackhead extraction tool if you have a bit of skill. Alternatively, you can make an appointment with an esthetician to get them extracted. But for how long have you been using the bp and retinol/retinal serum? That should work well for closed comedones over time, but it might be best to get them extracted once and then maintain the treatment. That is really the best way; I do that too. 😌 Regarding the cleanser, the formulation of this one is pretty good, but the CeraVe SA cleanser is much gentler.

@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet My concerns are acne (especially blackheads and comedones), clogged pores and acne scars. Do you think my routine helps or any advice on adjusting it? day - Neutrogena soothing foaming cleanser - Cerave Vitamin C serum - 3% tranexamic serum Sunscreen night - Biore Micellar cleasingwater - Neutrogena soothing foaming cleanser - 0.1Retinal+0.3retinal serum - 3% tranexamic serum - Curecode double barrier cream *retinal 4 times/week (fri-mon) *Cosrx blackhead liquid 2 times/week (tue-wed) *only Curecode double barrier cream with no other harsh active ingredient for 1 day (thu) *I use bp gel a few times a week when there are painful inflamed but no head acne spots then wash off. I have started using retinal and bp gel for 2 months. I feel my skin texture gets a little bit smoother but for smaller blackheads and closed comedones I don't see much improvement. Maybe it takes 6 months to start seeing the result? Thanks for your suggestion. I'm considering going to get them extracted too but still can't find the trusted one in my town. Most of them are only hard selling their doubtful products. If not the SA cleanser, how about Cerave Cream to Foam cleanser at night time instead?
@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet

I also use the benzoyl peroxide method, but with a cleanser. I find that the cream isn't as effective. When I have inflamed spots, I follow this method: kzitem.infoqGNXAEackX8 Your skin is normal to oily, correct? If so, I'd recommend staying away from heavy creams. Even if your skin feels dry, it's better to skip a few days and then restart your regimen. Day Routine: Neutrogena Soothing Foaming Cleanser (consider switching to a gentler version: kzitem.infoqMd1tWxPWLM). Cerave Vitamin C serum or 3% Tranexamic serum. Sunscreen. Night Routine (e.g., Monday, Wednesday, and Friday): Biore Micellar Cleansing Water. Neutrogena Soothing Foaming Cleanser (again, consider the gentler version: link). 0.1 Retinal + 0.3 Retinal serum. Night Routine (on nights without retinol/retinal): Use the cleanser, then pat dry. Either leave your skin as is (which is what I do) or, if you really want added hydration, opt for a lightweight gel such as the new Cerave Moisturizing Gel or The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + Beta Glucan. I believe a potential issue could be overusing your products. Try reducing to just one treatment per routine. Also, consider switching up your cleanser. If you're content with your current one, that's okay, but it's an option to keep in mind, especially if you're running out soon. Yes, it's challenging, if not almost impossible, to get rid of blackheads with topical products alone. The most effective method is usually extraction, which I always do also for closed comedones.

I think it might be too much. Are you referring to the blemish control gel? If so, I recommend considering a gentler cleanser to use once per day, such as the Beauty of Joseon Green Plum Cleanser. Ideally, use it in the evening before applying the blemish control gel. Additionally, it might be beneficial to alternate the evenings you use these products. So, you would use the Beauty of Joseon Green Plum Cleanser, pat your skin dry, and then apply the blemish control gel, while also skipping niacinamide. Here's a suggested routine: PM1: Use the cleanser as suggested. Pat your skin dry. Apply the blemish control gel. PM2: Use the cleanser. Either leave your skin as it is or apply your moisturizer.

This cleanser can be quite potent, especially when used daily. Using it in conjunction with another SA serum is likely to dry out your skin over time. I'd recommend using either just the cleanser or the serum, or alternating between them. When you use the SA serum, pair it with a gentle gel-to-foam cleanser.

Well, if you have never used a salicylic acid product before, it certainly could be a reaction to the cleanser and/or gel. However, it could also possibly indicate that you are overusing the products. Determining the exact cause can be challenging initially. So, I wonder, how often do you use both treatments, and what else do you use? 🤔

@@alandornexi2749 I believe you might be overusing the products, but it can be difficult to determine this in the beginning, as I previously pointed out. Overuse may result in over-exfoliation, which could lead to these "breakouts." You could continue with your current routine for a bit to see if your skin improves, or you might consider reducing the frequency of use. Additionally, incorporating a gentle cleanser suitable for your skin type, such as the Effaclar Purifying Cleanser or their Hydrating Cleanser, could be beneficial. This would allow you to alternate products on different days.

I would not recommend doing that, especially if you plan on doing it for a few weeks or even months. It's best to keep them in separate routines - maybe use one in the morning and the other in the evening. If that is still too much, then alternate between the two on different days.

@@ZainaBeersing I would suggest buying another gentler foaming cleanser and alternating between the two. You have several options to consider, such as La Roche Posay, CeraVe Foaming Cleanser, Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser, The Ordinary Foaming Cleanser, or Beauty of Joseon Green Plum cleanser. By alternating between the Micropeeling gel cleanser and one of these cleansers, you can achieve a gentler and more effective skincare routine over time.

@@ZainaBeersing Yes, what I meant to say was that using the Micropeeling gel cleanser too often will likely cause dryness and irritation. Therefore, I would recommend buying one gentle foaming cleanser, as suggested above, and using that one when using the effaclar duo+. This way, you'll have a gentler option to use in conjunction with the effaclar duo+ and prevent any potential harshness on the skin when used continuously.

Hey again! :) How's your skin doing? What's your current AM and PM routine? I enjoy using both LRP cleansers (the blue one or this one) but I especially enjoy this one for my acne-prone skin as it contains 2% of Salicylic Acid. However, you are already using an SA Cleanser, so you could either replace it with this one or just stick to your current SA Cleanser. Also, are you still using your 10% BP cleanser?

@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Hey! Its going ok. 😅I actually took a break from the new routine I showed you last time bc all of my products weren’t in yet. (Stylevana took 3 months to ship!😭) so I couldn’t start my retinol w/ no sunscreen. BUT did start Azelaic acid every couple days sparingly (forgot if I should apply in dots to certain areas or just a small amount & rub in that area) but it’s this routine you clarified for me: AM: - CeraVe SA or LP Foaming Cleanser - Azelaic Acid - (Optional) Moisturizer - Sunscreen PM: - CeraVe SA or LP Foaming Cleanser - Mandelic Acid - Cerave Retinol - (Optional) Moisturizer I stopped the 10% BP for a while to give my skin just an overall break. But did use it maybe 2-3 times in the past couple months. And mostly used my Cerave SA cleanser during this time. Edit: the product I was waiting on was: Pyunkang yul balancing gel and the moisturizer gel, & Nivea sunscreen (purple pump bottle). Mmm a replacement might be good?

@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Great question! I’m not entirely sure yet😅🫣but I’m leaning toward yes. I got both moisturizers to try as they have different textures. But will use one at a time. The Azelaic acid & retinol I feel will really aid in me clearing my skin and dark marks. So far I felt the Azelaic acid helping for sure even though I haven’t been as consistent since I was doing like 1/3 of my routine, I used it every couple days since I’m new to it. But the little I used so far has made my dark spots & acne reduced and such a little better (or I’m delusional & it only seems like it 😹😹). For sunscreen I’m picky 😅 I’m scared of aloe bc I had a breakout years ago & couldn’t pinpoint if the aloe made it worse. Overall I liked the Korean skincare options for the price on the sites. I have the mermaid one by canmake I believe. And I like that one! I just forgot I had it. But I got the Nivea Japan gel one based on loadssss of review research since I’m oily, acne-prone & sensitive and it was the best choice I felt. I like gel type moisturizers and things. And I’m now living in a humid climate so my skin routine has kind of also changed to even more lightweight-ish products bc of the humidity (I recently had a fungal acne breakout due to placing a moisturizer on my face while my skin was still wet/damp in addition to the humidity in the air not allowing my face to fully dry down, if that’s the best way to put it🥴🫠 it was horrible!!). Omg sorry it’s long I always give a dissertation but yea. 😌
