Man, I didn't understand 80% of what you are saying. But somehow you help me reverse ingeneering my garage door opener, I tought the TRIAC was used to slow down the motors but I couldn't find zero cross detection circuit, now Its Clearly been used as a switch. Thank you. Great work.

hi praveen, as usual you've upload a very useful video. thanks for that. I've a small doubt over this. it's cleared that that the triac can handle the maximum output load by it's part number (ex) BT 136,7,8,9......but i need to know whether the voltage across the triac is same as the input AC voltage. for ex: if the input voltage is 230 from the direct main, & will it be the same voltage value after it converted through the triac which is present inside the IC (opto coupler) ? please clear this doubt and also add some more technical videos to learn. actually I'm learning lots of things from your uploads. I'm eagerly waiting for your future videos. once again thank you. god bless you

why do you connect a 470 ohm resistor between pin 4 of MOC and pin 1 of BT136 ? Pin 4 of MOC is use to trigeer the Gate of BT136 so why it is connected to the other terminal? plz reply ASAP.

Hi I Like your Videos I want to build the AC dimmer as AC ON-OFF switch Can I use the same circuit with the ESP8266 Node MCU ]WIth ESP8266 Node MCU to enable PWM on a certain pin, use analogWrite(pin, value); where the pin is the digital pin, and value a number between 0 and 1023] Use case : 1. When I set 0 value to the digital pin by analogWrite bulb should turn OFF. 2. When I set 512 value to the digital pin by analogWrite bulb should set to brightness 50%. 3. When I set 1023 value to the digital pin by analogWrite bulb should set to brightness 100%. I have a doubt : Arduino NANO gives an output voltage of 5Volt but ESP8266 nodeMCU gives 3.3 Volt. will this works please replay to me I am learning a lot from your Videos. Part : MOC3021 and BT136

Hi! I found your circuit very good, let me ask, how many watts is the load capacity of this circuit? I have made a circuit a little bit different than you, it has a fire resistance when you load 300watt, I use BT137 and cod 3021: AC on T2, T2 goes directly to pin 6 moc, pin 4 moc connects resistor 330ohm 1watt to pin G, T1 Load, I only use on and off mode, can you give me more instructions, thanks

For controlling ac devices use triac and for dc devices use mosfet.

For controlling AC devices use triac and for Dc devices use Mosfet.yes, of course it will work if you swap the triac and replace it with a mosfet provided you should select the mosfet/triac according to current drawn by the device your are going to control and always use a heat sink for both high current or low current applications.

Thanks for tutorial, My question is why most of the circuit using relay instead of triac even relay is costly than triac, there must of disadvantages I guess. Could you please explain triac pros and cons over relay? Where we should use relay and where we should use triac?

Mechanical relay are more widely used because very simple to use for commercial use, can switch both AC and DC, but noisy, and slow. TRIACs can only be used to switch AC, are faster, and silent
