How do you use polar red for Betta fish fry?
Yup, polar red (shellless artemia) is indeed quite popular among betta fish lovers who are breeding betta fish. How not, with polar red artemia, we don't need to hatch artemia when the fry are starving, they can be used directly for betta fish. But in fact what I often experience is that polar red is often not eaten by fry, even though some fry eat it. So what happens is there is a lot of accumulation of leftover polar red feed at the bottom of the container so we have to clean it often or there will be an imbalance in the size of the fry due to the difference in appetite of each fry. However, it is undeniable that polar red can be used as an alternative feed for our Betta fish fry if natural foods such as water fleas (daphnia) is difficult to obtain.
Well, this time Betta Metal will share some tips about using polar red for Betta fish. There are 2 general ways we can do to give polar red to fry, which are:
1. Directly sprinkle polar red in the frying container. This method can be done if the fry are over 3 weeks old. Polar red will float on the surface of the water and some will fall when the fry peck at this polar red.
2, By soaking polar red in water first. This way the Polar Red doesn't clump and will tend to fall to the bottom of the Betta's fry container.
But the problem that often occurs is that the fry like to melt (doesn't want to eat) this polar red. To overcome this, the tips we can do is soak polar red in hot water so that it will be easier for the fry to eat.
