Hi Guys! In this excel tutorial, we will discuss what is Relative reference & Absolute reference in MS-Excel.
There are two types of cell references in Excel one is relative reference and other absolute reference. Relative and absolute references behave differently when copied and filled to other cells.
Relative references change when a formula is copied to another cell. Absolute references, on the other hand, remain constant, no matter where they are copied.
By default, all cell references are relative references in MS-Excel. Relative cell references are basic cell references that adjust and change across multiple cells when copied based on the relative position of rows and columns.
We use absolute cell reference when the cell reference must remain the same when copied or when using AutoFill. Dollar signs are used to hold a column and/or row reference constant.
