Great tutorial! Your narration style combined with the little gifs is super engaging and nicely paced. I liked the little tips and quips as well. Especially when you'd explain an aspect of the software or animation in general that a newer person might not know. the screen wobble can be a little much at times but other than that, loved the video. super helpful.

His editing and method of teaching is amazing. I used to animate my drawings with Flash. I'm just about to get into Synfig. I haven't checked if it can do nested animations yet like each grouping having its own time line.

Since you are using a Mac you could do everything you showed in this video with Apple Motion (costs $50 only one time) which is real time. So no rendering to see your animation. It exports movie files though not gif I think. But even transparent videos (yes that exists!) in "Apple Prores 4444" format .mov files. If you haven't then you should check it out.

When you resize the image to fit the canvas ummm I use the polygon tool as shown yet the part of copy the images above the polygon shape I try however it either stays white once the shape is made and when I try to composite straight onto the image disappears and if I can stumble onto by fluke and am on the right layer when creating the head shape to get the head to work with the image when I try to make the body shape it all happens again and I get lost where the layers need to be to composite onto the shape. Obviously my issue is which layer I need to be on when I am creating the polygon shape for each body part and I am confused which layer I need to be on when creating the individual shapes for this to work. In the video I heard that you need an image over every shape created but when I copy the image over the shapes I made the image resets to full size and is out of alignment and I loose my way and patience where I am or need to be layer wise even though I name the shapes as head body etc... When the image is dragged into Synfig it created a yellow folder above the image but I am confused when I try to copy the image layer to be above each shape I create and I am confused on once the head is created how do you copy and match the image above other shapes made so they can also be composited onto the shapes successfully for each part? The layers confuse me so much and copying the image used to trace into the right locations so the other parts can be made without the image disappearing once the shape is finalized or the image resets to how it was before it was resized to trace the parts and compositing them. I am desperately trying to understand the group and layers and where the images need to be and which layer of them I need to be on to make this work. It seems like a huge mess and I am lost here but trying so hard to comprehend it.

Dale, seems like you're trying too hard !! Relax, you'll start to have fun when you take it lightly. Now, in the beginning all this can become a bit of a mess, happened to me and it was frustrating. But I didn't loose hope. I'd advice you to watch my video few times over, pause it and observe how I've placed the layers. The fact of the matter is, you'll need to take this one step at a time. Keep things simple, animate with just a box or a circle. Take any image you want, and stick it onto a vector. Just do this much and get back to me :)

As much as i appreciate the video,i have to say the explanation was too fast ,esp for someone who's a noob at animation.I tried this method with a Batman png(transparent).Outcome was--the whole figure moved to & fro (not just the head) and the background was pitch black. Still i very much appreciate the effort.Thank u!

why are you using windows 7 upgrade to windows 10
@Amipotsophspond
5 жыл бұрын
yes it works with win 7, why win 7 it's not Software as Service, why are you using windows 10? because you blindly clicked upgrade? because you trust MS? any backdoor is a security vulnerability, what do you think auto upgrades and forced up upgrades are? why are you pushing upgrades. companies are addicted to data, because it's training data, and better AI is now money. what could be the harm just look at china, death that could be the harm.
