Hey Vic, nice videos about the Sony ZV-1, they all helped me very much, thanks ! I just have a tiny problem concerning the webcam usage. As you can see in my video : kzitem.info/news/bejne/l4x5t6KibqpngJg (the ZV-1 is the wheel point of view) when using the ZV-1 as a webcam (I followed your steps in this video) and plugged to OBS, there is a little delay between my game (captured through an Elgato 4k pro capture card) and the ZV-1 through USB which is some milliseconds late. I would love to get both in sync, that would make some more sense :) I can't try with a capture card instead of USB as I own only one, but do you know if this problem would be solved with capturing the ZV-1 output with HDMI (and something like an Elgato Cam Link) ? Or does a parameter exists somewhere which I forgot ? Thank you very much in advance

I have USB power supply "on" and the USB cable plugged into a USB port in my desktop computer. It shows the plugged in/charging symbol next to the battery level meter icon too. But I keep running into "battery exhausted" issues even when my camera is plugged into the USB of my computer. That seems to indicate that the electrical draw from the ZV-1 exceeds the power supplied by the USB port of my computer (but I've tested this with all my USB ports), so after a few hours of webcamming, the camera will have no more battery life. I've lost the camera multiple times during Zoom calls. Any way to fix this? I need the USB to be connected to my computer (not a wall charger that would provide higher electrical current) because I need to use the Sony Live Imaging Edge software that requires the USB to computer connection.

Hi Vic, great feature this but I'm having some issues with the camera running out of charge even with it being connected and apparently charging? I'm wondering if it's the battery as I'm using a 3rd party battery (to preserve the original) or whether it's a dodgy USB cable, or whether it actually drains faster using it as a webcam and the charge can't keep up? Maybe I'll stick the original battery back in - I was only worried about wearing this out quicker due to it being plugged in the whole time...

Hey Merv, try a dummy battery. I get more out of the dummy battery than the usb

I have the Sony zv1 and I am using it to record yoga videos. I’ve noticed that when my face is hidden the video darkens too much and when my face is in view the video lightens up just right. What setting do I change to keep the lighting consistent throughout the video? I haven’t found a direct answer anywhere. I’m new to this and your videos have been very helpful!

Hey Jade, this is all to do with the exposure settings in the camera. What I’d suggest is trying manual mode for video. Start the shutter at 1/50 and dial the aperture in as needed so everything looks right on screen.

@@VicBarry Thank you for responding so quickly - just in time for my next yoga class! Sounds easy enough and I’m glad to have your recommendation.

This was a great review! And I loooove the sharpness of the image in your video. What camera and lens did you use to shoot this?

I only have a Mac, but it can dual boot into Windows, so I should be able to put the Sony software on there. I’ll also need to add OBS Studio or similar to the (small) PC partition.

is there Sony camera that doesn't require camlink for the ultimate quality?
@VicBarry

Hey Roger, the latest firmware brings I’m the ZV1 up to 720p. That aside all usb streaming is limited in some capacity. To get the full 4k etc you do need a camlink or similar capture card

Hi Vic, I followed your video with great interest but I have a problem. I tried to use the ZV1 as a webcam but the ZV1, despite the USB connection, keeps using the battery and when the battery is empty (after 3 hours), the device turns off. So I cannot use the ZV1 for streaming. Do you have any idea why?

the only solution I could see is to use the cage AND an unofficial adapter... (AC Power Adapter + BX1 Dummy Battery Coupler Charger Kit)

Sounds like there is not enough power running through the USB port to be honest although sounds like there was if it lasted for 3 hours

@@VicBarry The video files wont even download to a mac either, I have to download and edit videos on my ipad pro, and the videos take forever to transfer. Sony just dont seem to care, they dont answer calls due to covid.

@@VicBarry so far so good...mostly. lost some footage due to a stoppage at 5 min on some microphone reviews, hoping it's because of the sd card coming from a canon SL1 and I forgot to format it. I find a way to kill my videos lol
