In my effort to build like Neil Peart, I'm using a PD-8 instead of a Dauz pad, and I have it mounted next to my snare on a rack rod (just like Neil) and I'm using, for now, a TD-6 module.

@@DrumElectric Fun fact: that's why Neil had a rack rod going from his high hat to his tom stand. It's basically a "T" fitting.

Really appreciate these videos! Gives me hope I can figure this stuff out but I do have a question. I'm wanting to do something similar but I want to have an "invisible cowbell.". Basically if I need to get a band mates attention or count off a song silently I hit the trigger pad and it sounds off. Do you think that's possible with item?

I believe in you!! You absolutely can do this. I’m not sure how easy routing is on the SamplePad 4 (or if it even exists at all!). But what you can do is put the sound on the trigger, and pan that trigger so it only comes out of the left output (for example). Then, just send that left output to only your band mates and you should be good to go

I went to the Alesis website and I can't seem to find that Wav audio file convertor that they are supposed to have for users. I have an Alesis Samplepad 4 and I'm having issues playing the sounds. I converted the sound to Wav using some random online convertor but the sound still won't play. Am I missing or forgetting something?

Hi there! I just got this pad, I should get it any moment now and I’m adding it to my acoustic kit. I’m thinking about adding a kick pedal for this pad. Do you have any recommendations or do you know if it would actually work? Thank you!

That’s amazing! Congrats on the new pad! A kick trigger would absolutely work. My go-to’s are always the Roland KD-7 or the KD-10

Hi there, I've got a Roland RT-30HR dual trigger to use on my snare and am looking for a cheaper sample pad option. You used an actual pad as the trigger in the video but will it work with that Roland trigger as well?
@DrumElectric

It absolutely would! So far not had any issues with any of the Roland Triggers

Are you also having the noise issues with the Sample Pad 4 like most of the users do? I’m really thinking of buying it but since I won’t be using it as MIDI controller at all I need the sound outputs to be silents to send it to our Soundcraft Ui24r. And that would be show stopper for me. Otherwise it’s perfectly compact and exactly what I would want (just couple interesting samples to add extra ear candy for the audience). Thanks!

Interesting! I haven’t noticed any yet, but I’ll be sure to have a look when I can. I’m running it into the Behringer X32 via a DI, so very similar to the Soundcraft that you’ll have. Feel free to shoot me an email and I’ll get back to you!

@@DrumElectric Thanks for the reply, it would definitely be interesting to know if maybe not using DI and going straight to PA would show this issue. That would point to grounding problems which I think was what the other users were suggesting as well. Also it should be only the rear outputs not the headphone out. Never the less I guess I have to try buying one and see for myself. Thanks a lot, keep rocking!

Wouldn’t surprise me at all if it’s grounding problems. The power supply on the unit is not exactly the most secure thing in the world!

im thinking of downgrade my spd sx to this. since im not using more than 4 pads per song. any thoughts?
@DrumElectric

Interesting! If you're using the SPD-SX in it's simplest form, so as a sample pad, I can see no issues with this. The Alesis can be limiting if you're running full backing tracks across a full gig, or you want more than just a sample pad as the functionality is missing what the SPD-SX can do. But, like I said, if you're just using it to play samples, you could definitely replace it

Probably on the slightly more sensitive side than I’d have it, but definitely very plug and play!

How to send sound from the pad trigger to the bass drum? Does it has a setting
@maximilianocao1041
9 ай бұрын
Im not sure to understand this well. This Alesis has only 1 trigger output but the video mentioned that it is possible to add 2 triggers using a jack split. I tried this but is not working: the two different triggers play the same sound no matter if A and B have set different samples. Any idea?
@DrumElectric
9 ай бұрын
You’re right with the Jack split - the trigger input is a ‘stereo’ input, meaning it can take two things with one. Sometimes it can be really specific on the Jack split annoyingly. Are you doing this with one cable? (So a stereo jack to dual mono) or something different?

is it possible to use a switch (like a sustain pedal) instead of a trigger? the pad pro and the samplepad have a switch on the back that allows you to do so, but I don't see it in this model
@DrumElectric

Not from my knowledge unfortunately as you only have the trigger inputs, and I’m not sure if it has the capability of programming one as a patch change

Hi there! I’m using a TRS splitter to add a Roland PD-8A and a Roland KD-7 but I keep getting the same sound on both external triggers. Do you know why would that happen?
