cool so if I wanted to clean a DE filter and keep the pool running I would turn the pump off then turn system valve to recirculate, turn pump back on and begin by opening pressure valve for filter tank?

We have a DE filter for our above-ground pool but it also has a crank. Can you explain how that works please? My husband usually handles the pool but forgets and im trying to learn to take over maintenence.

@@trishherrmann390 To bump your DE filter, turn off the pump and push the handle up and down rapidly about 6 to 8 times. When done you can turn the pump back on. On average you will bump your filter every 7 to 10 days or bump when the pressure gauge reads about 10 psi above the starting pressure. If the jets in the pool are weak after bumping your filter then you will need to clean the filter and re-coat with DE. Thanks for watching.

@@Miguel-USMC The DE filter that you have is fine and they make several different types of DE filters. The filter that you have requires less cleaning between cycles, however the DE filters that have the valves are easier to use but do cost more. Thanks for watching.

What happens if I dont use DE with this filter system? Is it still filtering?

@@meditationwithjake Never run a DE system without adding DE, if not you can damage the grids or the cartridge style filter grids inside the tank. Thanks for watching.
