On Data and Design Meetup #24
Online, June 22nd, 2023
Our expert panel is discussing the latest trends and techniques in data visualization and mapping. Discover how to effectively communicate complex data through beautiful and informative maps. This event is perfect for data analysts, designers, and anyone interested in the intersection of data and design. Don't miss out on this exciting opportunity to learn from the best in the field.
From tracking forest defoliation due to climate change to monitoring corona infections, maps are becoming increasingly important in identifying the who, where, and why behind many global problems. Geographic Information Systems (GIS) integrate data to reveal previously unknown patterns and relationships between phenomena, enabling decisions for individuals, businesses, and governments alike. We are taking a closer look at this interface and we are learning about the latest projects in the field.
John Nelson - @JohnNelsonMaps - cartographer at Esri, known for his contributions to the field of map-making. Through his KZitem channel he shares detailed tutorials on map creation, sharing the cartographic process from start to finish. John will show us examples of maps as a visual platform for data and some of his projects showcasing the enormous potential of maps to uniquely reveal and communicate.
On Data and Design is an evening lecture series organized by the Basel-based studio for information design Superdot - visualizing complexity. The lecture series fosters knowledge, community and exchange at the intersection of design and data practice. Our free, quarterly events feature three short talks with beer, snacks and good company. Currently On Data and Design live events are running in Basel, Vienna and Berlin with a growing community of over 1500 engaged DataVizzers.
