I've always wondered why my hair always itched whenever I put weave/braids in and not any other time and after I googled it, I realized it was because I wasn't washing it! the only time I have ever washed my braids is when I was a kid out the pool washing the chlorine out! Before I became natural (again) I always kept my relaxed hair in braids. I did the big chop and am currently natural again so my hair can be healthier. I let it grow out until it was long enough to braid. I'm about a week and a half in but will be out of town at my 2- week mark so will wash when I get back home. I briefly watched several braid-washing videos and yours was my favorite! You give some excellent advice and I have all of the tools. (my hand-held sprayer is packed up bc I'm preparing to move, but now I can't wait to wash my hair and keep it fresh and clean for as long as I'm able.

I think it's worth it though. Your hair has less or no build up but the time you take out the braids so less breakage. The hair is also soft at time of take down. You're definitely missing out imo. Personally, I also like it when the knotless braids are grown out a bit/somewhat frizzy at the root since it makes my hair look less thin.
@Laura-sg6ss
Жыл бұрын
It won't shrink up because it is stretched to the maximum within the braid. And I feel you about messing it up. I guess it is about being slow and patient and careful 😢 I'm gonna give it a go for the first time today. I scared but let's goooo😂😂

I would suggest using a dandruff shampoo & as well as a hair oil !!! It should help with your dry scalp your dry scalp may not even be caused by the braids it may be cause by cold weather if it was during the winter time & I know I had this issue before without having braids due to the weather conditions , I would just not be scared to wash them this girl has proven your braids will and can stay looking exactly the same with washing normally ! So just try it don’t be scared if they do end up messing up just know that may be the hairstylists fault as your braids may have not been done correctly to stay tight and stay put in your hair , & you may just have to find a better hairstylist in the future & remember this hair style may be beautiful but it is never the end of the world , if your braids do end up coming out we all have to live& learn & figure out options that are best for our hair types , & trust me you will find what’s best for you as life goes on 💕

I went to Jamaica on vacay this week & 2 lovely ladies there braided my natural hair in cornrows & box braids. Wow it looks amazing but I'm a white girl lol So I've been kinda figuring out how to maintain properly with my hair texture. How often to wash? Some people say not at all. Some say you shampoo with no conditioner. You do both. Lol I guess the key is just to be CAREFUL. Period. Cuz everyone has their own preference. Thx 4 this tho. Any recommendations?
