Honestly, as a black dude who's parents wouldn't let him grow out his hair and chop it off constantly, this was very useful, unlike my sisters i never had long hair till now so learning how to care for it has been an issue.

Exactly !! Growing out my hair has humbled the fuck out of me. I’m so used to seeing my barber every week. Now I see him once a month for a quick low taper and trim my Afro a bit. I always wanted to try different hair styles such as natural curls, braids and maybe do locs in a few years.

I LOOOOVE the content. The only thing I would suggest, especially if you’re doing this with the intent to help black children that are being raised by non black families is to be more gentle with detangling. Especially if they are little girls who want to retain length. Start with detangling your hair with conditioner and comb from the ends of your hair and work your way to the roots. I work in sections and take my time. The conditioner provides more slip making detangling easier.

I don't like the comparison to a "brillo pad", our hair is more like a cloud, cotton candy or a crown. Maybe try using a moisturizing shampoo instead of African black soap because it's really drying and stripping for type 4 hair. Try to detangle by sections starting by the end of your hair saturated with a thick conditioner because you are causing split ends and breakage when you just force the comb in your hair like that. You use way to much different liquid sprays and instead of one spray and one moisturizing leave- in conditioner. Your hair is not nappy or beady, it's dry because of the lack of proper products. You should deep condition at least twice per month. You hair is shorter at the back because it's broken, you are way too rough when you detangle it, it should be done slowly and with care.

10:00 Nice video, I liked that you showed the reality of a grubby/dirty bath tub at the end of the video = very transparent. It would have been nice if you explained what you did to your hair after you washed it.. twist it, air dry, towel dry, hairdryer, style....? I often find that when I leave my wet hair to air dry, it very quickly starts to tangle. Yours seems to have avoided that stage, so it would be helpful to know what you did after the wash.

Wassup bro. I think I can help because I’ve been growing my hair a year and a half and it’s long and healthy. Use Mielle rosemary mint products, I use the shampoo, LEAVE-IN conditioner, and Mielle oats n honey hair balm, then after using those 3 they key for my healthy scalp is I use grease, for some reason a lot of “natural hair” people stopped using grease but I never did. I finish the hair wash n condition process by taking a little bit of Blue Magic grease and rubbing it on my scalp and hair to seal in the moisturize from the other products. Do this and watch how healthy your scalp gets. Side note: I also have Mielle rosemary mint hair oil and I use it every couple of weeks
