I had a class in middle school that was about cooking, sewing and learning how to do taxes, stuff like that. How she taught all of us was, being we even started to cook, fill one side of the sink with hot water and soap. Every time we had a dirty dish, we’d throw it in the hot water until we were all done (except for knives). Then we had one person who would get the dishes, scrub them with more soap and then hand them to another person who rinsed them off, and then to another who dried them off, and the last who put them away. It was a team effort.

I wash mine very similar! I take all the dishes out of the sink and organize them with plates, bowls, cups, silverware, etc together (just makes it easier to all of one item at a time so I can go quicker instead of bouncing around). Clean the sinks like you did, fill one side with soapy water, clean the ones that can go in the dishwasher first, drain the sink, wash it again, then hand wash anything that can't go in the dishwasher. I use a dish rag sort of thing from Norwex to wash everything. It's nice because it's kind of like a mesh material, so breaths and dries well, doesn't get smelly and I can put it in the washing machine every so often.

If you put vinegar and baking soda at the same time, they neutralize each other, creating water and salt as a result, and idk how much you think that is cleaning :D If you want to use them for cleaning, use them separately. Just because they're 'foaming' when you mix them, doesn't mean they're cleaning.

I clean my double sinks, use Dawn dish washing liquid and the hottest water I can stand (I insist on Dawn as imo it does cut grease better and I find it takes less time for scrubbing in my house, and it lasts me longer, too, lol) a capful of bleach in the dish water when needed, then run them thru my dishwasher on the shortest cycle for a final sanitation. I do my glasses and coffee mugs first, then plates and bowls, silverware then the pots and pans w the nastiest ones being last and adding a bit of Dawn to the pot or pan when needed for extra scrubbing. I’ve worked food service for years now and if they’re not clean and sanitized after that process - then I missed scrubbing something off prior to putting them in the dishwasher, lol. Thanks for your tips!

That’s basically how my grandma taught me! Also the same. Glassware first as it’s usually got less grime, then silverware, then plates and bowls, drain the water and wash the pots and pans last. She taught me to fill the sink partially with HOT water and then soap on the sponge, and rinsing side was partially full of hot water as well and then the drying rack is where we organized them clean.

Before I can even begin to wash my dishes I have to thoroughly clean and disinfect my whole kitchen. Since I use a dish pan I always clean it out with bleach and hot soapy water, rinse off the dishes and then proceed to fill my dish pan up with my dish detergent. I use a clean dish rag and once I'm done with all my dishes I reclesn the sink, dish pan and use a separate clean rag to disinfect my counters. After putting away the dishes I bleach down the dish rack and I must soak my cleaning rags in detergent and Boax for one hour and hang them to dry every night. And that is my complete breakdown of how I wash dishes 🙃 🙂

Yea I'm in the same boat. I can do the dishes if they all fit inside 1 half of the sink not overflowing. More? Someone else needs to do them. Because I take them all out (rinsing them as i do) , wash the sink, rinse, fill half and clean them, rinse them in the other half, then put them in the drying rack. It must be done this way if I'm doing it. Which is why I want a dishwasher so badly since that has much fewer steps for me.

I have a drying rack inside a little plastic tub that I keep in my cupboard. If I let the dishes dry on the counter the cats will jump up there and "inspect" the dishes and I just don't want to keep rewashing them but I also can't afford to ruin the cupboards by putting the dishes away wet. In place of a sponge I use a steel wool pad that already has soap in it for almost all of the dishes. It works really well on most of it. Since I have no pans with a nonstick coating (because I have a birb) and plates with no design, I can scrub the heck out of them. For more delicate things I use a disposable towel. I hate doing dishes regardless of how. I have O.C.D and I overwash the dishes so it takes forever to finish.
