Juban
In the same shape as the kimono, this layer is worn between the hadagi and the kimono itself. It is of a lightweight fabric and should always be worn, except in the case of yukata. Its main purpose is to prevent soiling of the kimono, but a glimpse of it at the sleeves and legs lends an additional fashionable touch. Many colours and patterns are available. White cloth is the standard for formal occasions.
Datejime
A narrow belt used to close the front of the juban. They come in many varieties, including those you can tie yourself and those with a sort of Velcro.
