I am a trampoline gymnast and i can backflip easily on ground too, is the motion more like a sideflip or a backflip where you line up in the air? I can’t sideflip to save my life
@SnowboardAddiction

Wildcats and Tamedogs are exactly like the motion of a side flip - definately get these down on the tramp before taking them to snow! Choose a super snowy day with soft landings to practice on snow :)

Make sure that your taking off with a flat base and that your body remains in a straight alignment throughout the flip. Watch their vid on how to cork 5 to see what you may be doing wrong.
@j.s.6080

Keep the shoulders parallel to your board and try to ride slightly on the toe edge when taking off. You also have to swing your arms and body in line with your jump for the flip

When i do this is it more of a side flip or a back flip motion with my upper body? I can do backflips on trampoline and i can side flip to the right side, but side flipping to the left side feels unnatural. I ride goofy and i can do tame dogs easily, but i am nervous to try a wildcat because i have too many questions in my head.

@j.s.6080

More of a sideflip but do not try to translate it directly into a wildcat because there are major dissimilarities. E.g. you have to rotate and look into the sky for a wildcat, while sideflips are almost always done in that cartwheel motion.

Purist here. It’s only called an Indy when spinning backside. In this instance, it’s called a frontside grab.
