There are two problems with repurposing Pin 2 with Auxiliary power. Firstly, if you modify your vehicle to non-standard wiring and connect a trailer with reverse lights (which are really handy), the lights will stay on constantly, which is illegal. Secondly, your car and trailer may only be fitted with 1.5mm² cable. This is fine for lighting but is unlikely to be thick enough to safely carry enough current for auxiliary accessories. If you have a full-featured caravan or trailer, even the 2.5mm² cable specified for Pins 8,9,10 and 12 are going to struggle with that much current. Considering that everything electrical in your trailer needs to use the common earth of pin 3 (and 10), the most your trailer plug could handle in total is 35 A. Fridges, Hydraulic Brake Pumps, Battery Chargers and Camp Lights can all pull more current than your your trailer and vehicle electrics may be able to handle. The best thing to do is only connect features according to AS-2513. Use pins 8 and 9 for signal only and use independently cabled Anderson Plugs to provide power to Battery Chargers, Hydraulic Brake Pumps and Electronic Stability Control features. Camp Lights and Fridges should utilise a dual battery system (and VSR) so they do not draw power from an unpowered vehicle.

Can we connect this socket directly to tail lights without the convertor or the controler box ?

Hi @azamiqbal3027 If you already have a towbar wiring harness installed you simply need to replace the socket because it's damaged, you don't need to buy a full kit. You can just purchase our MF-021-ZZM www.milford.one/7-Pin-Flat-Trailer-Socket-MF-021-ZZM socket from our website and transfer your existing wiring into the new socket, following the instructions provided in the video. However, if you don't already have a wiring harness installed in your vehicle, you will need to purchase a complete towbar wiring kit. Feel free to give us a call! We're more than happy to have a chat with you. Phone: (08) 8377 6900
Could you please tell me what pins 8 and 9 do? I think he said it's wreath switch?

hello, he said 'reed' switch, it's a magnetic operated switch that is associated with that spring loaded weather cover of the plug. When the plug is opened and connected to a trailer, the reed switch changes state and this is used to tell the Reverse Park Assist to be quiet (and in the normal state, when there is no plug the RPA can beep annoyingly:)
