I have actually experienced the Mandela Effect myself. I believe that even the Mandela Effect itself has had its name altered, because I distinctly remember that when I was younger it used to be called a “common misconception”
@Herfinnur
26 күн бұрын
No, those are two different concepts. A misconception is not a false memory. A ‘Common misconception” is when a lot of people have misunderstood something in the same way or have heard the same falsehood. The Mandela Effect is when a large amount of people have the same false memory. Popular examples are usually focused on things that an enormous amount of people vividly remember that, e.g., Mr. Monopoly has a monocle and cane; Darth Vader says “Luke, I am your father”; the world map shows New Zealand being north of Australia; Curious George has a tail. If I’m being honest most of them are just trivial, but I still personally think it’s an interesting psychological phenomenon

The last wild one I recall is when I was in vegas playing blackjack downtown las vegas on fremont street at the plaza. I was drunk so I just kept yes anding this guy who ended up telling me about how hes on the run for allegedly beating up his ex-girlfriend, he bailed on the court date and was doing a party weekend in vegas before he was going to face the music back home in Mizzou, he ended up giving me his number and tried calling me the following night to party again but I blew him off lol

Joking aside, Edward Bernays applied Freudian psychoanalysis to advertising in the 1920s and they've been doing it ever since. Corporations would absolutely go to absurd lengths to hide a change in logo or branding, including removing all references to older versions, bc they don't want people to notice their "childhood brands" changed bc some overpaid ad guy needed to justify his salary. They spend years of marketing money to construct a fake relationship with people and they don't want the mask to slip. The fact that the average American has enough knowledge of brands and advertising to develop conspiracy theories about it is deeply depressing.

I'm shocked at the comments saying this guy is crazy. You know he's right about these things. Yes maybe it's all just our bad memories, that's the obvious explanation, but we all remember some of the stuff he said ringing true. I think maybe what happened is there were products or brands or cartoons that spoofed or kinda copied these labels. For example we may just be confusing the Raisin Brand sun with the California Raisins or...well I swear there's another label with a sun with sunglasses. I think there's just multiple generic brands or Chinese knock-offs that loosely copied the labels of popular brands....or time travel affected it..or it's a simulation. haha, it's a bit strange
