To teach in Finland, particularly at the upper secondary level (which includes classes up to the 12th grade), your qualifications from India-like a BA in English Honours and a B.Ed-would need to be formally recognized by Finnish authorities. Here’s what you generally need to consider: Recognition of Qualifications: Your degrees need to be recognized by the Finnish National Agency for Education. This might involve an evaluation process to ensure that your qualifications align with Finnish standards. Fluency in the Teaching Language: In Finland, the primary languages of instruction are Finnish and Swedish. Proficiency in one of these languages is usually required, and you may need to provide certification of your language skills. Teaching License: In Finland, a teaching license is required to teach at the upper secondary level. To obtain this license, you must meet the educational and language requirements set by the Finnish education system. Additional Studies: Depending on the evaluation of your qualifications, you might be required to undertake additional studies or teacher training in Finland to meet the specific requirements for teaching at the desired level.

Hi! 😊 To teach English in Finland, you'll need a recognized teaching qualification. You might also need to get your credentials evaluated by the Finnish National Agency for Education (Opetushallitus). Additionally, securing a job offer will help you with the work visa process.

@@visalibrary If a person needs a visa to enter Finland and the purpose of coming to Finland is to stay and work there, then residence permit (RP) for work is the relevant immigration permit. In the Finnish permit system and legislation residence permit are not visa. They have a different decision process from the visa application process by a different national agency, the Finnish Immigration Service.

Thank you for the compliment! I’m glad to assist you in finding institutes in Finland that offer fully funded teaching programs. Here are a few steps and some institutions to consider: Steps to Find Fully Funded Teaching Programs: Research Universities: Check the official websites of Finnish universities to see if they offer scholarships or fully funded programs for international students. Scholarship Programs: Look for specific scholarship programs for international students, such as those offered by the Finnish government or individual universities. Contact Universities: Reach out directly to the admissions offices of universities to inquire about funding opportunities. Institutes Offering Fully Funded Teaching Programs: University of Helsinki: Offers a range of scholarships for international students, including fully funded programs. Their Faculty of Educational Sciences might have relevant opportunities. University of Turku: Provides several scholarships for master's programs, which could include education programs. Aalto University: Offers scholarships for international master's students. Check if their programs align with your interests in mathematics education. University of Eastern Finland: Provides a variety of scholarships for international students, including those pursuing education degrees. Tampere University: Offers scholarships for master's degree programs, which might cover your field of interest.

Is BA in TESOL degree in Sri Lanka and TESOL certificate with 6.5 in IELTS would be eligible for apply for this??? Is learning finnish a must to become an english teacher in Finland ??
@visalibrary

A BA in TESOL from Sri Lanka and a TESOL certificate, along with a 6.5 in IELTS, can make you eligible to apply for teaching positions in Finland, particularly as an English teacher. However, eligibility can also depend on the specific requirements of the employer and whether your qualifications are recognized in Finland. Learning Finnish is not always mandatory to become an English teacher in Finland, especially in international schools or private language institutes where English is the primary language of instruction. However, having some knowledge of Finnish can be beneficial for integrating into the local community and may be required for positions in public schools or for better job opportunities.

What kind of jobs do non EU persons do? I mean a person who studied vocational teacher education as an international student?
@visalibrary

Immigrating to Finland as a teacher, especially for non-EU persons, involves navigating specific requirements and opportunities. If you've studied vocational teacher education in Finland as an international student, you have a unique advantage, as you're already familiar with the Finnish education system and possibly the language, which is crucial for teaching in Finland. Non-EU individuals can find teaching positions in vocational schools, adult education centers, and sometimes in private institutions or international schools that may have more flexibility regarding language requirements. However, for most teaching positions, especially within the public school system, proficiency in Finnish or Swedish (depending on the region) is required. There are also opportunities in sectors that require specialized vocational skills, where your background in vocational teacher education could be highly valuable. To work as a teacher in Finland, having your qualifications recognized by the Finnish National Agency for Education is a key step. Additionally, securing a job offer is necessary before applying for a residence permit based on work. For non-EU nationals, including those who have completed their studies in Finland, transitioning from a student residence permit to a work permit involves demonstrating that you have secured a job relevant to your field of study, which in your case would be in education or vocational training. Networking and leveraging any internships or practical training experiences you've had during your studies can significantly enhance your job prospects.

What jobs people end up doing depend on their qualifications and their professional and personal skills and interests. Being originally from outside of the EU by itself has no significance. Nationality in some rare situations does have some importance, when handling matters having to do with national safety. In the defence sector there are jobs that are available only for citizens.
