Code Red Defense

This video illustrates how to work on the Bob Dummy. It's a basic drill to use when practicing your striking in self defense.
The first thing to do when you're looking at striking your opponent is relaxing your body. All the tension must leave in order for you to focus and be able to perform properly.
One thing to remember when you're striking is to always follow through. You cannot maintain one position and continuously strike. You need to move your body with the strikes nonstop, it's more effective.
The purpose of this drill is to develop your ability to strike for long periods of time, to train that over-kill. Fights usually do not last more than a few seconds, so this drill can help you perfect nonstop striking so that you can have an advantage if ever you find yourself an ongoing fight.
Learning the fundamentals of striking are essential for a complete self defense training. Indeed, knowing how to deliver the following strikes is crucial for your personal protection: palm strikes, elbows, knees, head butts, neck cranks, hammer fists, etc.
Remember, that you should keep it as simple as possible. You need to keep your body synchronized with your striking, and move around. Do not just stay in one place. That is not recommended. Your purpose with this drill is also to develop that sense of overkill, to be able to finish off an opponent if ever you are in a fight.
