Still got issued these 1979 when enlisted in the guards,we wore these until about 1982 when got issued different type of boot,must say you made this look very difficult to do where in reality it would take us seconds,mind tou having a crazy barrack room corporal in basic helped you learn to hurry everything

Puttees are much easier to wrap if you have them rolled up before hand! Especially longer ones. Helps keep them tight and clean all the way around. Cheers

Thanks for this! I just started doing LRDG reenactment after doing NWE airborne for years. Found the puttees much more difficult than the gaiters, but this helped a lot!

Never heard an RSM in my life say 'oh, round about here'! I'm sure Regimental practice varied, but the way I was taught (when these were still worn) was for the line of stitching which runs at right angles across the end of the puttee to be in line with the row of stitching which runs down the inside of the eyelets on the boot.

Yes but it's trickier! I'd also advise doing this before you put the webbing on! Or get your Batman to do it!
