This is a decent overview as far as arrangement, but it would be really interesting to know what chords/harmonic intervals you are using and why, as that is a critical part of composing a specific mood/genre
@lovelymusicnow4404

That wont happen lol because people who make videos like this didnt compose it. The use free classical midi or film score midi they illegally download online and just swap the midi channels for instruments tracks. have fun

This piece is using G phrygian mode in the A section. The flat 2nd degree adds a lot of tension, very common for evoking a feeling of dread or war like conflict, and you can get some cool colors with some instruments droning on the scale root and others on the flat 2. then the B section just goes to minor instead of phrygian i think, without the flat 2. Id say its much more action oriented than horror, apart from the spooky glissandi in the strings from Fable used for effect. B section is just standard chords in a minor progression. He said to another commenter that he chose the notes purely on intuition so i think his focus on production here makes perfect sense. There are other places to learn more about the theory that can help inform compositional decisions

Doesn’t matter what HIS chords are. You just need to learn it your self. Horror is usally produced in minor diminished scales and whole tones

Both Fables and Lores are (c) Native Instruments. Yes, made by Evolution Series, but many products by Native Instruments are that - or a close collaboration. Boith Schemas and Low End Strings are made by 10 Phantom Rooms, but by Native Instruments nevertheless. And nobody talks about Noire or The Gentleman a s "from Galaxy Instruments". No, they're made by Galaxy Instruments, but they are Native Instrument products.

I've added the presets name for Fables and Lores in the video description. Other instruments are used out of the box. For Violins I and II, Flutes, Oboes and Clarinets short notes, I have used the measured tremolo patch with "Sync to host" on. Hope that will help.

Great ! Which scale do you use for your chord progression ?
@pauldarbot
Жыл бұрын
I'm going to give you an exasperating answer, but I don't know. I don't think in terms of scale or mode. I usually start with my base note, then build the chords from there (there's usually the fifth), then move on to the second chords depending on the feeling of the piece. It is pure emotional response to the chords progression.

@@pauldarbot Seems almost chromatic at times which would make sense with horror.
