Assalamu Alaikum, dear viewers.
Today, we have a tale that embodies the power of compassion, understanding, and transformation. It's a story that shows how one person's journey can defy prejudice, proving that even in the face of hatred, love and unity can triumph.
please listen to how Donald Trump leads Lisa Shanklin to Islam.
In a world filled with noise, there are moments that stand out, like flickers of hope in the darkest of nights.
This is a story of one such moment when the power of compassion and understanding conquered hatred.
The hateful remarks against Islam and Muslims by the US incoming president, Donald Trump, were like thunderstorms, raging through the political landscape. His words, drenched in fear and prejudice, struck chords of concern among many. However, amidst the thunder, there emerged a gentle whisper of change.
The Republican winner of the US presidential elections had been very rhetorical about his hatred toward Islam and Muslims during his campaign. His divisive speeches had consequences he could never have foreseen. They prompted a woman named Lisa A. Shanklin to embark on a remarkable journey of self-discovery.
Lisa, a woman of open heart and curious spirit, attended one of Trump's campaigns, hoping to understand the motivations behind his divisive rhetoric.
Little did she know that this decision would alter the course of her life. The very hateful remarks urged her to explore a path less traveled, one of understanding and unity.
It was at that pivotal moment when Lisa decided to study the Muslim Holy Book, the Quran. She dusted off her copy, which had remained untouched since her university days, where she had previously studied comparative religions. With an open mind and a heart yearning for knowledge, she delved deep into its pages.
As the days turned into weeks and the weeks into months, the Quran became her constant companion. Her study of it led to something unexpected but beautiful. It led her to engage with Muslims, to learn about their faith, their culture, and their lives. It led her to understand the Islam that was so different from the distorted image portrayed in the political arena.
A year after that momentous decision, Lisa took to her Facebook account to share her transformation with the world.
She posted a picture of herself wearing a hijab, an Islamic veil, and wrote,
"It was Trump's hateful rhetoric that led me a year ago to pick up the Quran and study it closely. This led me to begin interacting with Muslims and eventually to embrace Islam for myself. For that, I am so thankful."
Her post was met with a mix of surprise, curiosity, and admiration from her friends and followers.
Lisa's journey was far from over; she had more to say. "I have now decided that on Inauguration Day: January 20, 2017;
I will begin wearing hijab in public at all times," she continued. She had been hesitant to do so in the past, fearing misrepresentation. "I was not raised Muslim," she confessed, "and I did not want to represent almost 2 billion Muslims to the average Jane or Joe on the street."
With determination and a sense of purpose, Lisa added, "Trump won't need to give me a badge to wear.
I will PROUDLY wear hijab and I will call people out on their bigotry of all kinds privately and publicly."
Her words resonated with those who had followed her transformation, as well as with those who believed in the power of empathy and understanding. Lisa's story became a beacon of hope, proving that even in the face of adversity, love and acceptance can triumph over hate. It was a beautiful reminder that sometimes, the most unexpected moments can lead to the most extraordinary journeys.
