Daily life of the astronomers. Do they have to apply? Are there only Europeans? Do they reside there? How is life there? There are a few videos around about people living in the South Pole Station. This looks pretty extreme too. 💪😀

Those neoprene block shock absorbers are similar to what is used to protect nuclear power stations against earthquakes. I saw them 40 years ago at Koeberg in South Africa. I assume there has been some development since then!
