Spinal cord stimulation, graded motor imagery and virtual reality certainly weren’t around 30 years ago. But thanks for your comment regardless.

Latest research means the most recent right, but most recent can still be 30 years old? So recent does not always same as new. My English is not so great. Thanks for your help. Sound like you are trying to say that latest in the first part, then saying new in the second part of your sentence. Those 2 are not equal tho. Maybe I'm wrong too? Please help me understand.

I'm 66 years old and have had this horrific disease since I was 20. I had a triple arthrodesis in my right foot, and the trauma of the surgery caused the RSD. I've undergone every protocol you could imagine. Pain pills, spinal cord stimulator, pain pump, lumbar sympathectomy, et al. The ONLY thing that has helped is that I changed my diet. I kicked highly processed foods to the curb, plus sugar, grains and seed oils. Keeping inflammation down is key for me. Has my pain gone away? No. Yet its manageable. However, just 4 days ago I started feeling the all too familiar pain in my right arm and hands. Yep, it has spread. I also walk 4 miles per day, at least 5 days a week.

Why no regional nerve blocks, such as stellate ganglion block for upper extremities? I had 3 and it resolved my problem in one month.

The evidence suggests only short term results of a few weeks for most people. You’ve obviously had a much better result than is typical.

Thanks for commenting. Do you mind me asking how old you are and what caused it initially ? I’m also really interested to know what treatments you’ve found to be helpful or what pain management strategies you use.

@@PhysioMSK I’m 47 years old, and it started by breaking my great left toe. I don’t take any medication‘s for it, and when I did the mini years ago I was only on them for a short time because they don’t work. I went to a holistic treatment center in Fayetteville , Arkansas. It’s called the Spero Clinic. They saved my life.

what about post-stroke?
@PhysioMSK

There is a lot we don’t know about post stroke limb pain. In particular whether it’s caused by the brain injury itself or if it’s the resulting immobilisation of the limb that causes it. And also whether it’s a different subset of CRPS to the typical post trauma type.

Hello, I have a question about CRPS, I was diagnosed with it and have been dealing with it for about a year and a half. The CRPS started in my right ankle. Is it possible for this condition to spread to the arms? I have pain in both arms which developed from little muscular exertion.
@PhysioMSK
Ай бұрын
It’s unlikely. CRPS is usually diagnosed after everthing else has been excluded. So if you have new arm symptoms then it’s far more likely that something else is the cause.

My CRPS began in my wrist and spread to my left foot. It was incredibly painful, but after about one year, I'm now almost symptom free. I began by reading "The Way Out," by Alan Gordon, other related books, and receiving "pain reprocessing therapy" with a therapist. I also walked daily, which was very difficult at first, but it helped so much. This approach is still relatively unknown, but it changed my situation dramatically, which I never expected while in severe pain.

@@PhysioMSKOne of the hallmarks of CRPS is that is does spread! I have CRPS that started in one arm and is now nearly full body. Here’s a link to an article from the Mayo Clinic that confirms this. www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/crps-complex-regional-pain-syndrome/symptoms-causes/syc-20371151
