@@jessicadabruzzo9819well it depends...was it during the waif-like, heroin chic, grunge days of fashion and music? I mean if so then wasn't just in dance if you get my meaning. Also dancers used to smoke a lot to stay thin, suppress appetite and because it was part of the scene but people take better overall care today and dancers do other sports more and weight training. Muscles are IN for gymnasts, skaters, runners, dancers, models and actors, etc. It's just the pendulum swings and dance world became.more inclusive and that means more body types too. Willowy dancers are lovely and ethereal but movement has broadened and bold, strong dancers are always impressive. We've had a lot of influence culturally from MCU, DC superheroes past couple of decades so that look is popularly accepted more too.

@@Pixietoriathis exactly. I can’t relate personally, but I had friends in dance who had either very strong or very curvy bodies who never got the same admiration from teachers or taken seriously as having a legit chance at dancing with a company or in a college program. It’s really sad because in retrospect, it was just the ballet bubble and brainwashing that made all of the teachers, studio directors, and other dancers think there was something about either body type that would somehow limit success. Now that I’ve been out of that culture-except occasionally on the internet-for twenty years, I look back and am horrified. It’s no wonder me and most dancers I know with the “ideal” body type had EDs. Ballet in the nineties was a WILD time. Ironically enough, the extremely curvy girl who used to dance at my local studio is on one of my social media accounts: she still does ballet, and looks friggin fantastic! Like, an absolutely enviable body. I literally cannot believe that anyone ever thought she was not cut out for dance because she had boobs and hips. 🙄 Terrible. Obviously she is dedicated and still loves it, since she’s almost 40 and still dancing. Meanwhile, I don’t do much spare some barre work at my kitchen sink and haven’t busted out pointe shoes since the early Y2Ks. 😆

Gorgeous, but why is there no floor pressure? Also some friendly tips if you want them: - The relevé your doing is not actually a relevé, it’s just a rise. Bring your foot underneath your body, instead of going over the foot. Also make it a bit sharper, like your snatching everything up. It will improve your balance. - Also, on the tendus, your just placing your foot in fifth and not going through your feet. Also notice how your heel doesn’t actually go down until your in first again? You need to put your heel down as soon as possible, and go through your feet more, specifically when retreating from the tendus. This also applies to the rendejembes, and make sure you fully bring your foot back to first for the rendejembes as well, instead of just passing it through. This is, again, floor pressure. - On the develope, your knee is not straight, and the alignment is all off. Your hip is raised and you need to suck in your stomach to fix posture. - Please deepen your plies, and add some resistance or rhythm to them so it’s not just up and down. Other then that though, gorgeous technique and port de bras. Nice work 😊
