How can ppl not understand Ethan's take on the conflict. Not only is it moral and humane to not want massacres of civilians... but Hila was born and raised in Israel. They lived there. crazy how you can say that for significantly more Palestinians than you ever could Israelites, yet the conversation here focuses on the Israelites being victims. It is not a comparable loss. Israel has killed civilians, destroyed entire blocks, killed medics, UN members, yet the conversation remains on Hamas. That is where people’s anger comes from.

When you put a mouse into a closed box (understatement of the century) it will find any way out. You can’t act like because he has an Israeli wife that that should change anything. @@amhmd72bro Ethan has talked about Palestine so many times and is a known supporter of the people of Palestine. He stands by this even when his wife, who is ISRAELI, is now probably soscared for her friends and her family and the people of her country right now. You can disavow Hamas and still support the people of Palestine. THAT IS OKAY YOU CAN DO THAT WITHOUT BEING RACIST (toward Palestinians OR Jews). You can support the people of Palestine and support the CIVILIANS of Israel, and dislike the Israeli government. It is a complicated complex issue that I really think nobody should talk/make statements on unless you’ve literally studied the conflict, and/or been affected by it, for years. He is making a statement right now bc this is one of the biggest terrorist attacks by Hamas in quite some time and the reaction of the Israeli government is scorched earth policy which is deplorable and honestly horrifying. I get Ethan’s take. I’m not Israeli or Palestinian however I grew up in a largely Jewish neighbourhood in Australia and one of my friends is a journalist who currently lives there and is luckily safe. One thing I think a lot of people fail to realise is that the large majority of Israeli’s are pro-Palestine and wish to see Palestinians free, a lot have Palestinian friends however they recognise that they get treated like second class citizens etc. however the issue is their government is founded on a Zionist principle, which doesn’t just scare Palestinians but also scares the Israeli citizens because they know what that means for the Palestinians. How do we know this? Well the citizens have been trying to oust Netanyahu and his party from Government for a long time now (there’s constant protests their in support of Palestine) but they’ve had little success because the Government has been on the verge of a dictatorship for ages, it’s ideology is largely ingrained in the IDF and we’ve literally seen the Government trying to effectively turn the nation into a one party state earlier this year with proposed bills to overhaul the judicial system and remove the balance of powers, which was met with heavy backlash from Israeli citizens. So the reason Ethan’s been lashing out at comments is because those people don’t seem to understand or acknowledge that Israeli citizens & the Jewish people are not the Zionist Government in power or the military they control and Palestinians are not Hamas; and while a lot of people genuinely support Palestinians and have genuine concern for what now will happen to them, a lot don’t and have been quite clearly supporting war crimes under the justification of “eye for an eye” and often it is veiled antisemitism (for instance what happened in Sydney), which is insane… cause the reality is right now we shouldn’t be taking sides because both groups of citizens are victims of the regime they’re under and we shouldn’t be valuing anyone’s life regardless of ethnicity any less than any other, it’s that simple. It’s just sad that this is how it’s played out over decades.

Ethan's clarified his point here a lot better than he did on Leftovers. I do still disagree with how he presents his point because it comes off as dismissive to Palestine's suffering and though he does not agree with Israel bombing Gaza since Hamas terrorist attack, he explains it in a way that ultimately blaming Palestinians. I would like to know what he means by "reaching Israelis", because Ethan also said that the majority of Israeli disagree with the government's treatment of Palestinians. So, have they been "reached" or not? Would also like to know what Ethan is referring to by Israel's suffering and how does it pertains to their conflict with Palestine? If he is referring to what he and Hila talked about on Leftovers, which was the Holocaust and the terror brought from Hamas terrorist attacks, Palestinians have nothing to do with the actual Holocaust. Ultimately, Ethan is not a politician so who really cares what he thinks? He does not have the ability to affect policy for any country. I just do not want to support someone hateful. Well, I do not think he is a bad person lol. Him being a Jewish man, who lived in Israel for a few years and has a spouse who is Israeli, I do not expect him to not consider Israelis' suffering over Palestinians' suffering. I can only hope that he believes that the action of both extreme sides are wrong... which he does! Also believe that antisemitism is being used to fuel Israel's most recent attacks on Palestinians. The Israeli and American government have taken a real and scary thing to manipulate a lot of people. I believe that the Israeli government let their people down by letting this attack happen, because if I know a cornered creature gets desperate, then the Israeli and American government has been seen this coming. I also believe that the American government is letting it's people down with how they are speaking about Palestinians. Palestinians may think all Americans think like that. And the civilians are always the ones to get attacked!

As a palestinian, I’ve really had to reflect on what “Free Palestine” means now. My whole life its felt like a pro humanitarian movement, not just for Palestinians but for all indigenous people. Seeing the echo chamber that its created, I do see a lot of pro Palestinian propaganda that is pro Hamas. We never agreed with Hamas prior to this, seeing the way the people are supportive is terrifying. I am worried we will end up similar to Afghanistan with the Taliban. Just thought I’d a journal entry in the comments.

Ethan your rash looks like perioral (or periorifical) dermatitis. It typically occurs around the nose, eyes and sometimes the corners of the mouth. Unfortunately, steroid cream typically makes the rash better temporarily but worsens it long term. (In fact, a lot of PD cases are triggered by steroid cremes that have been prescribed to patients for other skin concerns.) It looks very similar to other types of dermatitis so sometimes even dermatologists get it confused (hence why you were prescribed cortisone). It’s also relatively rare and mostly occurs in women, but it can also occur in men. I’d talk to your derm and see if they’re open to prescribing you Elidel cream. You could also try an over the counter anti fungal like Canestin (often used to treat yeast infections). Best of luck!! Bottom line - try to avoid steroid cremes.

I agree, I’ve had perioral dermatitis a few times. It’s very stubborn and hard to treat. I’ve had to find a different remedy each time I’ve had it, because for some reason the previous solution won’t work a second time. But for the most part, a heavy moisturizer and as little interference as possible was most effective for me.

If you feel like Ethan can be excused because it wasn't a topic of mainstream discussion at the time, then he'll essentially never weigh in as much on Palestinian suffering, because the West doesn't care much at all about the Islamic "other" enough to give them the same sympathy that Israel is afforded. I've been a fan/member for a little over two years, and you have helped me gain perspective on a lot of things because I don't have a lot of people to speak with about touchy subjects. I'm sort of stuck in a real life echo chamber. (Sometimes I'm just quietly stuck in a chamber of people I don't agree with who are echoing each other.) But even when there were times (only a couple) that I totally didn't agree, I never left the podcast or talked bad about you because you are a GOOD man. You are a TRULY good person. I want to stay in your sphere and benefit from your experiences and perspectives. I want to help support your voice growing and reaching more people who could be happier from your influence in their lives. The world needs as many people like you as it can get, and I appreciate you for all the times you helped stand up for people. Especially this stuff happening between Israel and Palestine.
