Yeah, DOA was ruined when you are forced to pay for costumes that cost an arm and a leg. Just play the Itagaki DOA games because they are miles better than 5 and 6 because you unlock by playing, not paying. Hell, any game before disc-locked content, live service, Day 1 patches and microtransactions are miles better. Playing DOA 2 right now on my Series X! Hell, most of my games on Series X are games from the glory days of gaming where you pay for the game and you get everything.

Super Street Fighter IV & Dead or Alive Dimensions were pretty amazing (I have both of'em), though it really sucks that Capcom didn't really bother with any updates like they did for the console versions (I would've loved to have Ultra SFIV on the go); meanwhile, it's just as surprising Tecmo didn't bother porting DoA1 Ultimate, DoA2 Ultimate (the souped-up Xbox versions from the DoA Ultimate collection), or DoA3, since Dimensions is largely the MK Trilogy spin on DoA4...just because 1-3 (and probably the real DoA4) would've been way less taxing on the 3DS.
@SAsaiyajin
2 жыл бұрын
That is not necessarily the case of it being less taxing. As those older games were specifically made for PS2 hardware and DOA3 uses Xbox more powerfull hardware as well. It would still require some optimization anyhow. Dimensions also focuses more on the main plot around Ninja characters and Helena. Would like a remake for Switch though with extended plot elements not just the story around Kasumi and Ayane.

I used to grind the heck out of SSF4 on the 3DS. The only way you could get actual fair matches was to only allow people who used the Pro Controls online. The Pro controls would disable special shortcuts and there was a good amount of players back then using Pro Controls. Later on the game did lose a good amount of players and you'd only find people who uses auto block and special shortcuts. I did also play the heck out of Tekken 3D Prime Edition but hardly touched online because it was very bad worse than Super Smash Bros. Brawl's online. People like to claim Sm4sh had bad online have never touched Tekken 3D Prime Edition, that game's online is the definition of slide show lag. Tekken 3d could of been a great game but it was clearly rushed and had pretty much nothing to offer. The OST is a banger even though half of the songs were from Tekken 6.

I'm surprised in hindsight Street Fighter 4 by Capcom's usual tradition didn't rerelease a better version by the New 3DS' release... a full 60fps while keeping the 3D function completely optional and having better side-things to do besides collecting randomly-colored trophies Tekken 3D isn't bad for a Tekken on the go, at least it's leagues better than the GBA game... not that it's bad, just impressive with the even stricter limitations for the GBA's system. Similar with SF4, I can see it used as a means to train yourself during long trips and don't have a means to play Tekken as most of their games are console-exclusive with no Switch version despite having a WiiU game, bafflingly... No clue how you can "customize" your character since that's an option... and there seems to be no means to unlock cards on your own without relying on streetpass to digitally trade cards. I find myself replaying DOA the most, I like the simple button inputs and there's plenty to unlock that isn't 100% reliant on spotpass/streetpass stuff... though unfortunately there's costume unlocks that had a small window of opportunity to download, in which if you missed out, you missed out. There's not much to say or add about Smash, aside from if you're a newcomer and want to try the game out, you'll be missing out on the DLC characters and stages once the 3DS shop closes soon... and there's various stages that unfortunately never made it to Ultimate like Mario Kart 7's Rainbow Road and Pac-Man's Pac Maze Though before Smash 4 came out, I did play the DS' Japan-exclusive Jump Ultimate Stars quite a bit, that was pretty fun for its time
